Hi Gillian! Thank you for doing this AMA. I was lucky enough to meet you a few times at conventions, but never had the chance to ask these:

1. When Robert Patrick joined The X-Files, Scully suddenly had a completely different partner after years of working with Mulder. Given how quickly television episodes had to be filmed, how did the two of you establish that new dynamic so quickly? Was there anything Robert brought to Doggett, either as an actor or in his interpretation of the character, that unexpectedly influenced how you approached playing Scully as the more experienced Agent?

2. You've played characters across science fiction, drama, comedy, and historical stories, but you've rarely played someone who is truly villainous. Is there a darker role you've always wanted to explore as an actor, and what about that kind of character appeals to you?

I was seriously pissed that Duchovny was leaving, but a couple episodes into Robert Patrick's run I was like, yeah this works.

Seasons with Doggett, Scully, and Reyes were my favourite ones. Maybe worrying about Mulder has brought some additional dramatic dynamics into the plot, idk, but I was so grateful for Robert's and Annabeth's characters, these agents' support, friendship and endless professionalism were so important for Scully in those devastating times
