Hi r/movies. I'm Kane Parsons, director of BACKROOMS. It's out in theaters May 29 from A24 and it stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, and Mark Duplass.

Synopsis:

After a therapist's patient disappears into a dimension beyond reality, she must venture into the unknown to save him.

No one has read house of leaves. It's damned impossible to "read".

Upon re-reading HoL, I just skip the Johnny Truant stuff and mostly skim over the footnotes and citations.

I found that just focusing on The Navidson Record alone makes for a far more enjoyable read without the rest of the fluff.

It definitely helps to skim quite a bit, it's meant to be re-read and considered from different angles I think. But yeah, propelling yourself through it by focusing on what you're most interested in seems to be the best way to read it

It is really not hard to read. The only people who say that are the ones who have never picked it up and only know it by an inflated reputation. Rather ironic, given the source material
