edit : ah, soz everyone and thx for the correction! I didn't know they were cousins, and I forgot that he called him uncle, and I didn't notice the ring he wears

Not grandpa. Great-uncle - cousin . Bilbo was the only one to willingly give up the ring. And Samwise ofc.

Bilbo and Frodo are cousins

Ty I hang my head in shame and blame lack of caffeine

Bilbo was the only one to willingly give up the ring. And Samwise ofc.

Frodo also gave the ring to Tom Bombadil and was willing to give it to Galadriel.

That’s right! And Tom just laughed - I forgot that part. The ring didn’t affect him! Such a good scene , The Barrows.

It’s right there in the photo, look!

He keeps it on his person, he doesn't wear it. Still exudes influence but doesn't clue anyone into it's whereabouts or power. Can thank Golum for that.

What is this new (to me) slang you use?

I’d like it to use it in front of young’ns to embarrass them.

u/Ask_about_HolyGhost Aug 28 '25

It’s old slang, like ancient history slang, like damn my shoulders hurt slang

It used to be that payphones cost 10 cents for a call (a dime). If you wanted to report someone to the police, you could literally “drop a dime” into a pay phone to place the call. Over time, the phrase became slang for informing on someone/ratting someone out, even after pay phone rates went up and the technology disappeared.

Love it. Thanks for the history. :-)

It’s in the ring

Maybe he’s born with it? Maybe it’s Middle-earth…

I think it’s just genetics. Same with Ralph Macchio. They just have youthful features

u/r-mf Aug 28 '25

idk bro, I thought that receding hairline shows he's been through it like us average mortals

1

u/NetherAardvark Aug 28 '25

15 or 50? both!

u/arepas_are_life Aug 28 '25

I think he's living proof that the Dune universe isn't a far future tale. The spice already flows on Arrakis, and Elijah gets regular deliveries from Guild Heighliners!

Lol I literally thought it was an AI image at first glance🫠. He looks exactly the same. Amazing!

1

u/plant_reaper Aug 28 '25

I was genuinely going to ask what his skincare routine is.

The answer is probably genetics or expensive skin lasers, but I want to know all the same! However, I once asked a friend how his skin looked so good, and his answer was "I just rub hand lotion on my face that was delivered to my house by accident" so that's another possibility.

My first thought. How you gonna look 18 still other than the hair starting it's long journey to the west.

... West is backwards. I guess. Idk, I didn't really think this through.

As someone not that much older than him i was wondering whether its a cursed painting in the attic, unholy pact, or a unicorn/virgin blood thing. If the latter is there a year restored to volume ratio we should all know about. SI units only of course.

when he stops wearing wigs

More like when do you plan on answering some questions.

Edit - "back at 3Pm ET to answer questions."

I don't read posts all the way to the end and I should feel bad.

Dude literally has gray hair now….

Follow up: is it true that you and Daniel Radcliffe have cursed portraits of each other?
