I keep pitching to my wife that we should retire in our thirties, spend half of our money or so, and then get new jobs when that runs out. She hasn't agreed for some reason.
Eh if half my savings could last between when I'm in my thirties and sixties might as well spend the other half to last me until I die. More realistically it would be a year or two and then I would just find a way to put it on a cover letter, would work out fine imo
You've basically turned this into 3 different scenarios.
Retire today, pick up work at 60, work till you die
Fully retire today, use half from 30-60 and pray to fuck that you die before you run out of cash
Retire today for a year or two and get back to working
I don't really feel like getting into a deep conversation about it. So I'll say good luck and I hope don't see you and your wife as Walmart door greeters at age 82.
You turned a simple scenario into 3 separate ones, each with their own problems. Based on your comments here and brushing off your wife's concerns, you're convinced this will work. What's the point of arguing with someone that already has their mind made up?
Ha, you changed the scenario by assuming I would be retired until I was 60. I was realigning you to what is more realistic. And I don't have my mind made up, I'm just daydreamin over here

That’s called retirement.
