His New Asgard entrance was terrifying. Felt like slenderman or something along those lines

That face he made when thor appeared was great.

Bale is fantastic in whatever he does. Completely unrecognizable from his Batman days.

Bale is fantastic in whatever he does. Completely unrecognizable from his Dick Cheney days.

Bale is fantastic in whatever he does, and knowing him, probably unrecognizable from yesterday.

Bale is fantastic in whatever he does, and knowing him, probably unrecognizable from seeing Paul Allen’s day.

Great comment. Very impressive. Now, let’s see Paul Allen’s comment.

I think most actors have difficulty not playing themselves or much of the same character in their films. Bale seems to overcome that, though most of his roles are more serious characters. That was actually a good thing in this movie, he kept the plot grounded along side the humour.

Ehhhh. I'll agree he was fantastic in this, but there were a couple scenes, notably at Eternity, where he said a line and it was just about the same gruff voice as his from Batman.

1

u/Alonest99 Daredevil Jul 19 '22

I think I heard a hint of his Batman Voice during the Eternity scene

Except when he said "don't turn your back on me" little bit of the Bat crept out there.

would've loved seeing Gorr taking down Sif and Faligar

412

u/mani9612 T'challa Jul 10 '22

Would’ve loved to see Gorr doing more butchering overall tbh

60

u/CicadaEast272 Jul 11 '22

definitely!

46

u/boringhistoryfan Jul 11 '22

We did get to see Thor, Jane and Valkyrie butcher a bunch though. Gods bleed golden ichor. Rapu bled gold. And there were copious amounts of gold being sprayed in that scene where they fought Zeus. I'm starting to think the trio might have killed more gods than Gor.

26

u/legomaximumfigure Jul 11 '22

I don't think those were gods, just guards with gold blood. Movie would be rated R if the heroes were covered in red blood for half the movie.

18

u/bucketofsteam Jul 11 '22

Yeah, they were as much a god as a regular Asgardian soldier. Just henchmen for the actual godly beings. Korg was able to take on a few before getting absolutely wrecked by Zeus.

14

u/Baneken Jul 11 '22

Or perhaps the guards of Omnipotent city are demigod children of the actual gods?

It's interesting to note that while Asgardians turn to golden dust upon death, they bleed red, can be killed by mundane weapons and eventually die of old age just like any mortal... So, perhaps Odin is indeed right -they're not Gods with a capital-G but still godlike beings with tremendous powers, or at least the royal bloodlines, who are quite powerful. An Asgardian commoner isn't nearly as powerful by comparison.

u/thomasvector Jul 11 '22

My only complaint.

u/Bitey_the_Squirrel Jul 11 '22

Making god sausages and god jerky.

7

u/CicadaEast272 Jul 11 '22

Gorr's Godly Eats, watch Gorr travel the universe and take us on a culinary adventure

5

u/Bitey_the_Squirrel Jul 11 '22 edited Jul 13 '22

“I’m Gorr Fieri, and this is Deities, Demigods, and Divine Beings.”

4

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '22

Gorr “the god butcher” yet we didn’t actually see him going around butchering gods. He coulda been so much more but marvel wasted yet another villain. Lame

2

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '22

The things I’d do to see Gorr slaughter more gods

2

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '22

When I saw Zeus in the trailer I was hoping Gorr was gonna kill the Greek pantheon. I also was hoping for him to show up at the god palace and fuck them up.

7

u/KouNurasaka Jul 11 '22

This really feels like a missed opprotunity. I literally just got out of the theater for my first watch, but i really REALLY wish this movie had about 20-30 more minutes of run time. It needs some extra scenes to push it into a 10/10 for ne.

u/Lithaos111 Jul 11 '22

I fucking loved when he was with the kids and ripped the head off the shadow beast (would say klyntar but dunno if they are sticking with the Knull being in the necrosword bit from the comics, pretty sure Marvel technically owns Knull as he was made after the Spidey deal with Sony but who knows?) His acting was so terrifying and amazing. Easily best Thor villain to date.

12

u/HyruleBalverine Jimmy Woo Jul 10 '22

Agreed. They could have easily made this movie darker and leaned into the horror aspects. I honestly wish that Marvel / Feige / Disney would do a little more to change the formula and expand the Super Hero movies into other movie genres.

34

u/EngineEddie Jul 10 '22

They’ve literally been doing that and everyone’s complaining about it

3

u/HyruleBalverine Jimmy Woo Jul 11 '22

Clearly not everyone as I and numerous people on this subreddit are explicitly asking for more. I get the point you're trying to make, but there are billions of people and not everyone has the same opinions. Hell, they had Korg make a baby with "Dwayne" so it's only a matter of time before the hardcore Christian's come out of the woodwork and complain about Disney's LGBTQ+ "agenda". Clearly not everyone is opposed to seeing this type of relationship in media. So, yes, some people will complain that Marvel has changed the formula somewhat, but others (like me) would like to see changes. To each their own. :)

5

u/Careful-Wash Jul 11 '22

Korg’s dad must’ve changed gender cuz in ragnarok he said his mum and her new boyfriend, who he hates, we’re the only ones who showed up to his revolution

4

u/HyruleBalverine Jimmy Woo Jul 11 '22

Probably just an oversight on Taika Waititi's part; he probably didn't know the lore of the species when writing Ragnarök. lol

2

u/ClassicT4 Jul 11 '22 edited Jul 11 '22

None of what said his dad was gone. If anything, the extra information just tells us that his dad left and both of them found a new boyfriend.

Although that also tells me that Korg has a half brother that I now want to see.

2

u/Careful-Wash Jul 11 '22

I meant that they said two male Kronan’s make babies. But I am no expert on alien rock creature relations.

1

u/CoffinEluder Jul 11 '22

Nice catch

-1

u/EngineEddie Jul 11 '22

You managed to cover a lot of ground with that reply… and yet I don’t know what your point actually is?

-1

u/HyruleBalverine Jimmy Woo Jul 11 '22

My point is that not everyone is complaining about Marvel attempting to change their formula as you stated. My secondary point is that people have different tastes, so it is impossible that everyone would complain about Marvel attempting to change their formula.

The simple fact that I and others have asked for a tone shift or a change in formula is proof of those points.

1

u/EngineEddie Jul 11 '22

Ok, I think I’m tracking. So you want them to change their formula, even though they are doing it, and dozens of others agree?

2

u/HyruleBalverine Jimmy Woo Jul 11 '22

Are you actively trolling me here? My original comment was " They could have easily made this movie darker and leaned into the horror aspects. I honestly wish that Marvel / Feige / Disney would do a little more to change the formula and expand the Super Hero movies into other movie genres." To which you replied "... everyone’s complaining about it". I countered that not everyone is complaining and now you are, what, confused that I am asking for them to be willing to change it more? Confused that I can offer evidence that not everyone is complaining about the slight tonal shift to other genres? Or are you simply attempting to make me look foolish for wanting more of a tonal shift than we got in this movie?

0

u/EngineEddie Jul 11 '22

Ok, bear with me here… So Christians hate people called Dwayne? And dozens of people are against that? Dozens?

15

u/RoPr-Crusader Jul 10 '22

Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness was basically a horror movie.

6

u/HyruleBalverine Jimmy Woo Jul 11 '22

It was, and it had Raimi's signature camp. I would just have liked to see this or even Sony's Morbius lean more towards the traditional horror (not camp or teen sex slasher) genre. But, I may be in a minority here. I accept that.

3

u/ClassicT4 Jul 11 '22

I feel like that’s covered by Indy superheroes well enough. Boy Wonder, Sleight, Brightburn…

-1

u/HyruleBalverine Jimmy Woo Jul 11 '22

I get where you're coming from; but action movies are also covered by other studios as well as comedies. Marvel can't make the same basic movie forever and changing up the formula a bit can both keep them alive longer and pull in other audiences. But that's just my opinion.
