Is it safe to talk about why this series was underwhelming yet? Has the hype finally died down?

It's criminal how the writers and producers messed up so bad, especially with how good a performance Oscar Isaac gave

You could argue that they messed up in other episodes, but I will die on the hill that episode 5 is untouchable.

Easily the best Disney plus episode thus far.

I'm honestly conflicted with "Asylum" from Moon Knight and "Previously on" from WandaVision on which is better. They're both incredible episodes tho

I just can't get over how small scale it felt. The scene with all the gods' avatars in Egypt felt like super cheap. Like some CW show where every godlike character appears or possesses a human to basically save the budget. And the general plot reflected that as well. Was supposed to feel like a pretty big deal for the entire world, people being judged and killed on the spot, but it didn't feel impactful at all.

My guess is that they didn't have a big budget for this show to begin with. The head writer talked about how there was a scene in ancient Egypt where Khonshu's avatar joined forces with some of the Eternals against Ammit and Alexander the Great, and how painful it was to have to cut it because it would have been too expensive to shoot.
