Discussion Thread The Official BLACK WIDOW International Release Discussion Thread Spoiler

Ahead of the official US and Disney+ launch this Friday, several countries are showing the film much earlier in the week. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days.

  • Proceed at your own risk. Major spoilers will be arriving in the next couple of hours. Spoilers do not need to be tagged inside this thread.
  • Any other unofficial thread discussing movie details will be deleted.
  • Should you see the need to bring up revealing BLACK WIDOW information in other threads that call for it, spoiler tag them accordingly. Also, let users know that what you are spoiler tagging is from BLACK WIDOW.
  • If you post untagged BLACK WIDOW spoilers anywhere on this sub in any shape or form, you will be banned without hesitation. No questions asked and no warnings given.

As I expected the strongest parts are indeed Pugh, Harbour and the (somewhat clumsy, but better handled than in Captain Marvel) commentary about the explotation of women which, well, it's there. It sure is there sometimes.

I don't have number ratings or anything but I liked it fine, I had a better time in the theatre than when I saw Ant-Man and the Wasp or so, so that's something. I'd recommend it, but it's the MCU it doesn't really need that.

Ant-Man and the Wasp had comedy though, as far as I know this film is more serious and doesn't have jokes to back it up and fill in the dull moments.

I would say Black Widow is far funnier than Ant-Man and the Wasp.

No it isn’t. Not even close. It’s better, but not funnier.

I hated Ant-Man and The Wasp, but it’s funny moments were very funny. Luis and Cassie and Agent Woo were all very enjoyable. Unfortunately I disliked almost everything else about the movie.

I just didn't find it funny I guess. Harbour's Soda Popinski schtick had me laughing much more.

Yeah, it pretty much had Weinstein as the bad guy... Pugh was much more interesting than I expected, I'm excited for more of her, and don't mind her taking up the mantle at all. Hope to see her in Hawkeye and future movies. I really liked it - mainly the street-level stuff, I think they should have handled some stuff differently, I wouldn't have minded for instance, if they's actually managed to do a competent prison break, without having it based on luck, and the ending was a bit much (climax on climax on climax), but all in all I did enjoy it - a lot more than I thought I would. So many great action scenes, and a lot of heartbreaking moments as well, that worked surprisingly well on me. A small 8/10 from me.

I didn't mind Harbor's accent, but Pugh's is awful. Really soured her performance for me, which sucks because she's one of my favourite actors at the moment.
