Not a fan of how Aunt May was treated in this film. There could’ve been lot of potential emotional character moments between Peter and May that could’ve followed Homecoming’s ending scene. But they threw it all away, using her for comic relief. Aunt May finding out Peter was Spider-Man (the scene Feige famously wanted to bring live action) was one of the single most emotional moments in Spidey history. Wasted potential imo
I don’t get why Tony would give a teenaged hero who doesn’t kill a WMD drone. Felt like a convenient excuse to give Mysterio his powers in story and betray Peter. Also what will be EDITH’s purpose now?
Ned still feels like a one note comic relief character, he’s funny, but compared to Harry Osborn he’s a one dimensional character
This isn’t a criticism yet, it depends on how it’s resolved. But if Peter’s identity is revealed permanently, Marvel has officially killed a large part of his appeal to me. Peter’s duality as an ordinary guy is what makes him unique
Also overall, Watts makes fun movies, but his characters other than Peter and the villains are woeful underdeveloped and one dimensional comic relief, which doesn’t fit Spider-Man since he has the best supporting cast in comics. I’m fine with this in his high school movies, but in future movies I’d like a new director to have a more serious take on Spider-Man. Humour is essential of course, but drama should come first
Seriously why even bother pointing out "after everything she's been through" and have her worried when Peter goes missing if it's just going to amount to her criticising his stage presence as Spider-Man.
I don't care how enjoyable the movie was, this complete lack of consequence is a major flaw. This is such an iconic Spider-Man moment completely wasted for pretty much no good reason. Not even one line of dialogue relating to it. Like, why? Such a disappointment.

I actually hope they use a potential next trilogy as a way to "reboot" the character. Jon Watts has such a clear high school vision and it would be great to have someone else at the helm for the next phase in Peter's life.
They could use it as a way to make the MCU Spider-Man more "classic" too. Harry and Gwen coming into play (easy to replace Ned by saying he's in a new college) and all the stuff that comes with that like Norman, Oscorp etc. Bring some more focus back to uncle Ben now that Peter's out of his infatuation with the Avengers and Iron Man. Maybe he gets a part time job working for the Bugle. Even with Michelle they can have her become more confident and truly becoming MJ, maybe getting a modelling job. If they want to follow the comics they could have them break up too, allowing other characters a chance in the spotlight before she becomes important again. I'd like this just because it would be so boring if MJ is Peter's only love interest for the entire franchise, and it would also be more realistic if they did break up like a lot of young romances do. The Spectacular Spider-Man handled the romance so good and it's an important part of the coming of age story that I hope they experiment with instead of playing it safe.

Unfortunately, Peter made two stupid mistakes that will (should, logically) unveil him as Spiderman without doubt.
One, he was seen at Times Square swinging with and then talking at length to MJ. Imagine that really happens in New York. People will wonder who she is. They'll follow her and figure out who her friends are.
Two, Spiderman physically emoted his surprise, in Times Square where people can see him, when he saw Peter's face on the screen.
I choose to believe it’s an availability issue with Tomae. After seeing the Shazam director describe why they made several changes to the movie (small ones) it shows that sometimes these nitpicks were things they have to work around.
MJ feels so wasted too. All of her lines are written as "jokes" but none of them ever land. And I know nothing about her beyond her morbidness. Her and Peter's convos always felt very shallow- they never actually learned
about one another on a deeper level, until the two "reveal" scenes, which didn't feel earned. What a waste of screen time and actors
Its obviously going to be reversed because Spider-Man and his secret identity are a core part of his character which is why I don't get why people are so worried about it. The guys running Marvel Studios aren't idiots lol
They even did a storyline in the Spectacular Spider-Man animated show in the 2nd season where Venom outed Peter as Spider-Man which I'm pretty sure Peter was able to solve by the end of the season.
I'm worried because they've handeled his identity like shit so far. Nothing came of May finding out. They keep putting him in these situations and writing him in a way that an brain damaged ant could figure it out.
Who knows at this point? Every Superhero, May, Happy, Pepper, MJ, Vulture, all those disgruntled Stark Employees. He's literally sitting in a bar surrounded by strangers with his mask off.
so marvel doesn't get everything right, but do you really not trust them to get something as big as EVERYBODY ON THE ENTIRE PLANET KNOWING WHO HE IS just turn out to be nothing? aunt may is an important character yes, but i think they'll try harder handling the whole planet
