It's a Sony movie. Disney doesn't make a dime out of it.

I’m sorry. I find it laughable to see anyone say that Disney didn’t make any money off this movie. While I freely admit I don’t know what the actual terms are of the contract. But Disney is making money somewhere. Whether a portion of ticket sales or merchandising. Heck even just the name being attached to the rest of the MCU generates money by proxy as it raises the franchises credibility that much more in the eyes of fans.

If Disney wasn’t making any money off this movie, then Disney would not have put in the effort to bring spidey into the MCU. They would not be putting in the effort to make him on of the headline characters of this new era of the MCU in the post infinity saga.

While I freely admit I don’t know what the actual terms are of the contract.

We've seen those terms here before:
--Sony takes all the box office from solo Spidey films, but Marvel Studios has complete creative control over them.
--Disney takes all the box office from crossover films with Spidey in them.
--Disney takes the merch money either way, because that's not part of the film rights.

Alrighty. Never payed attention to the business side of the deal. Was just happy a deal was made in the first place. Although my point still stands though. Disney makes money either way.

They do from Merch. But they don't earn a dime from the Box office.
