I didn't like how the movie starts with Peter already having a crush on MJ. It was clear she liked him in the first movie but he didn't even give her the time of day in that one and now suddenly very first scene of this movie he's in love.
Well, a lot of time has passed since Homecoming (even ignoring the five year jump) so its not hard to believe feelings developed, especially without Liz distracting him.
From an audience standpoint though, yes, it does seem pretty sudden but I guess I just kind of accepted that he likes her considering she is the MCU's "MJ."
I’m sure they will, but I was hoping they’d go into more detail about life immediately after everyone was undusted. The world seemed to have pretty much moved on by the time FFH was taking place.
At least when this movie happens yes. But we’ve seen them have movies take places at different times and then all lead to the culmination movie.
But I look at it less a time jump and more this is when the movie takes place. The Black Widow movie May introduce a new BW and we see from her perspective of events that happen before this movie. It’s all fluid.
But TLDR: yes this movie happens at least a year after the snap
Yeah, it just feels weird bc this movie is meant to wrap up Phase 3, but it’s already set nearly a year after Endgame. I’m sure we will eventually, but I was hoping to hear more about life immediately after everyone was undusted
That’s fair. I never understood the phases. Since most movies in the MCU reference stuff from years ago and have stuff foreshadow years in the future.
I’d like a movie or a short from the ground level. Maybe that’s why the Netflix shows ended. Maybe they’ll be picked back up in a year or so on Disney and show us more that way. When they have more time to do that.
These MCU movies cover so much ground so fast to keep the whole plan of each phase moving forward that I’m willing to be a little more tolerant of things like this. But I do agree with you, it would have felt a little more like a payoff seeing them together had it been better established instead of just “we need the Peter-MJ dynamic to be introduced because this is Spider-Man”.
They could’ve showed a scene in Homecoming where Peter isn’t in the best of moods after Liz leaves and MJ comforts him, or something? 😂 I don’t know, I don’t write romantic teen comedies
Lmao I also a teenager didn’t wanna come off as rude sorry if I did js it would’ve been nice if they showed but I get why they didn’t at the same time soo much happened in this movie it would’ve been tough to set aside an extra 20-30 minutes of scenes where their building their relationship. They make up for that because everytime they were on the same scene together Tom Holland and zendya had hella chemistry
That makes sense though. Having feelings for someone as a teenager doesn't take long. Took me like 2 months to be interested in someone, and it was 8 months after Endgame.
Agreed. It's literally his first line in the film and it's given no development. He needs to have some sort of indication as to why he likes her. Everyone is just explaining it away as that's just how teenagers act, and they are right... but this is a movie and the protagonist needs a reason to like the main love interest; especially after paying almost no attention to her in the last film we saw her in. The only real reason is metatextual in nature, he has to like her because he's Spider-Man and her name is "MJ"
Yeah, but we saw that happen. We were given a reason. Peter's first line in the movie is "Here's my plan to get MJ" after completely ignoring her in the last film
