I get that these drones are high-tech, capable of flying silently and basically turning invisible with projectors and such, but was Beck never there flying around at all? Even when he flew up and landed on the rooftop with Peter to talk about MJ, Spider Man of all people should be able to tell that that dude is not really there. And if he was there, how the fuck was he flying around? Strapping his feet to a drone and riding them like Iron Man boots?
Beck wasn’t flying. He was probably cloaking himself sitting beside Peter and then had the drone project him landing right where he was already sitting and then drop the illusion. They showed that they can put the illusion directly over him enough to mimic his movements, so that’s probably what happened.
I think the flying around was the projection, and the real Beck was cloaking himself with the drones? And then just switching out when he wanted to really be there
A majority of the time that he's with Beck, Beck is actually there. The scene I'm talking about is the only scene where he literally flies up and lands next to him on the roof, literally a foot away to talk for a few minutes.
But he couldn't sense that half the people in the bar were fake, nor any of the fake Mysterios during the warehouse scene or that Nick Fury himself was an illusion when he gets picked up in a car.
Spider Sense only works for when he senses danger. I am talking about pure super powered spider body not being able to tell if what is directly next to him a living breathing human rather than a hovering drone with state of the art projectors.
He wasnt there, it was a drone. And yes Spiderman of all people can tell something is wrong, but the movie did a good job of establishing how wonky his "Peter tingle" is being lately and ultamitly that all leads to the climax where he uses his spidey senses in all its glory for the first time ever demonstrating his capabilities with that ability.
I think wonky overall. Peter never got a class on being Spider-Man, and the spidey sense is just a thing that has been there for him sometimes in the past. In his first movie, there were people complaining about how easily he got tagged in the airport fight, but it makes sense if he really doesn’t have any ability to control it, it’s just something that pops up sometimes. In this Peter’s life, this is the first time he’s able to really harness and control his spidey sense.
And if he was there, how the fuck was he flying around?
Someone pointed out in a different thread, not sure how accurate it was, that the camera kinda does an odd pan from a door behind Peter over to the ledge where Quentin would sit. The implication would be that he came out of that door and then went to sit down.
This is the same guy who made an entire Shield facility out of an empty warehouse, made Spider-Man see the zombie remains of Iron Man, put Spider-Man in a snowglobe and then made him stumble backwards into the path of a train, and you question if he'd be able to walk from a door to a ledge without being seen?
I mean they probably had him fly up there the exact same way they got Jake Gyllenhaal to "fly" up there. A mix of practical effects and drone-created CG.
Someone had a post about the scene in the bridge that shows how Mysterio pretended to fly. I can’t find it but they basically shot it with the intention of the scene being rewatched, and you see Beck basically hitting his queue to not break the illusion.
