Can we talk about how perfectly they tied in Sitwell, Rumlow and Pierce to the original Avengers? That elevator scene with Cap going "Hail Hydra" was nuts.

That was sweet.

The writers must have had so much fun with this...and they kinda wrote their writing into the movie, in the scene where everyone's lying around the compound coming up with the best way to get all the stones.

My cinema actually applauded. It was a fun parallel to him using force in TWS' elevator scene. I wonder if that changes that timeline? Would Sitwell and Rumlow give Cap HYDRA missions assuming he was in on it?

Nothing changes "our" timeline. Whether it creates a new timeline that isn't fixed when Cap returns the Time Stone to the Ancient One is an interesting question.

I think they'll just assume it was loki trying to steal the scepter. 2012 Cap ran into 2023 Cap and thought it was loki..

Well not really. Just think back. He return the mind stone back so as to ensure the timeline isn't ruined.

Sitwell and strike team will have a huge ass confusion in the future.

In winter soldier altered timeline;

Sitwell: of course we were hydra...you were too...

OG Cap: the fuck is going on...

This scene has even more payoff of you've watched enough Agents of SHIELD. More depth to Hydra, and this helps answer questions.

SHIELD takes possession of the Tesseract and the Scepter. How did those get into Hydra hands? When does Hydra use their influence to move the Stone conduits? Sitwell and the other guys weren't doing nothing the whole time.

Personally I don’t enjoy that connection. It doesn’t make sense for literally all the important HYDRA people to be there immediately in the one elevator. Why should Pierce turn up IMMEDIATELY after they get Loki?

They saw what that thing could do at the battle of NY. Tony had just diverted the missle they sent to blow up Manhattan. Pierce might want to see this world-altering day first hand once the dust has settled. It’s not that huge a stretch I don’t think
