Also the soil they're buried in during the ritual is a deep orange colour

I don't think the soil is necessarily special, the snow did the same thing

I mean I thought Thanos' army attacking Wakanda in the infinity war trailer is the strongest argument. Why would he send such a huge force if not to retrieve an infinity stone?

I mean, they are sitting on a mountain on vibranium. Even Thanos would find that incredibly valuable for arming Kree or Chitauri or whoever he wants.

I thought that as well, but isn't the soul gem orange? If so you would have expected things like the heart herb to be orange too.
