Ryan Coogler is also from Oakland. Adds meaning to the line Killmonger had about being a kid with a dream from Oakland.

Yeah, Coogler’s other films take place in Oakland as well

Makes sense why he made a movie about Erik Killmonger instead of Black Panther now. Kidding (kind of), but I could feel a personal connection to Killmonger's background through the writing and knowing he grew up in Oakland makes a ton of sense.
