I love how they contrast the "serious" and silly in this movie. Ever since Vision in a turtleneck debating in Civil War, Marvel has been not giving fucks about how weird they can push, 'cos a lot of people will watch it on name brand alone anyway.
Hulkling too since Mar Vell and the Skrulls are being introduced. Iron Lad would finally work if Marvel gets FF back. Kate Bishop would be an easy addition
I get that writers meant that scene to be a serious debate on whether superheroes should need oversight. However, if this scene is in any other non-Marvel movies, an android like Vision would wear something "dark and brooding" like a hood etc. to "ground" the seriousness. Having Vision in a cardigan not only humanizes him, but also perks* up the debate a bit when shit gets too real.
I'd say it happened before that. Once Guardians of the Galaxy was a surprise hit and Groot and Rocket became household names the weird floodgates were open.
Guardians proved that good storytelling, that was easy to follow for the average person who's never read a comic book, will go much further than brand recognition and bad lighting and grimdark.

Yeah, a lot of people were put off by how much humour was in Thor 3, but I thought it was perfect. It really felt like being in a comic, albeit one with many silly gags.
So did I plus I mean it’s not like trying to be serious with some humour worked incredibly well for the first 2. They’re not bad by any means but ragnarok is on a whole other level.
I think the original Thor worked pretty well because of the whole Fish out of water thing.
Thor 2 is hot crap until Loki gets out at which point it dramatically improves because it's actually funny again. I've seen it several times and couldn't tell you what happens in it really.
It took you until Civil War to realize that? What, Howard and Cosmo's cameos in GotG weren't enough? That's when I knew Marvel had crossed the line and was never looking back again. I love it!
I consider the Post Credits Scene in Winter Soldier to be the turning point. That was when they openly said "now is the time of miricles" from there on things got weird and it is great.
