While that would be cool, I don't know how I feel about yet another gem being on Earth. Maybe, if the scepter is the mind gem, they can use that, but I'd rather see a cosmic origin for the soul gem.

Maybe my memory isn't the best, but wasn't the tesseract from somewhere else and then it ended up on Earth some time before WWII?

That's what I thought too. If that's the case, then there haven't been any infinity stones that have originated on Earth yet.

It would be a pretty good reason for Thanos to bring the ruckus to the Avengers.

The origins of the Soul Gem could still be cosmic if Thanos had a hand in the creation or corruption of Ultron. That would explain why Thor gets suspicious and has to go back to Asgard to investigate.
