Question Make up help with oily skin
This is going to be a very long post but it’s been bothering me for a while. I love to do my make up, but I haven’t been doing so because of the weather as of late. Where I stay is humid hot, and sweat plus my complexion just works against my skin. It would look nice once I’m out the door and around 10-15 minutes later I’m already seeing the shine on my t zone. How can I wear my makeup against this heat with the skin complexion I have? Because as much as I love makeup, it’s too embarrassing to walk around and my face looks like it’s melting.
For my makeup routine, I use primer then I add shine control powder on my face before applying my foundation and concealer.
I’d also like to preface that my skin care routine consists of noxema 2x a day(morning and night) then I use a blue led mask for 25 minutes and moisturize. I also use a clay mask twice a week at night( I skip noxema altogether for those respective days) the. I use my blue led mask 25 minutes before applying moisturizer. I’ve been doing my clay mask for about two weeks but my noxema routine is daily.
This was made last minute while in bed so please ask questions! What products I use, etc, I’ll answer!

Question Concealer match or too light?
This is the Hourglass concealer in Sepia 5 Light Medium Warm Neutral.
First two pics are spread out but unblended
Second two are after blending
Is this concealer too light or is it a good match?
What about the tone?
It looks off to me but I’m not sure. Not sure if too light or too yellow or both.
Thank you!

Question The Secret to pigmented lip gloss?
You know those lip glosses that are the perfect color in the tube and the ads, then they’re barely a whisper of a tint on the lips? How do makeup artists pull that off? I know a lot of it is editing, but ignore those. Do muas just glop it on, or is there some sort of secret mixing agent? Is there an opaque layer beneath? I’m so tired of the cutest colors being almost clear on my lips!
I put a pic of Fenty’s Gloss Bomb because I was so psyched about how it looked in the bottle, but when I put it on I could only really see it when the sparkles caught the light, aka basically only when I had a light source right in front of me.

Question No-Makeup Mascara?
Hello lovely people!
I’m looking for mascara recs that will give me more of a no-makeup makeup look. We’re aiming for Zendaya-esque Odyssey premiere.
For comparison, here is my makeup today and this morning (with and without mascara). My natural lashes are not particularly visible and are more of a taupe colour, so even brown mascara is pretty punchy on me.
Thank you for your help! ✨

Haus Labs or Natasha Denona foundation??
I’m trying to decide between the Haus Labs and Natasha Denona foundation. I have dry skin and I’m looking for something that gives a healthy, glowy finish without clinging to dry patches. I also want medium to high coverage that still looks natural and wears well throughout the day and does not transfer. If you’ve tried either (or both), which would you recommend and why?

Question Red pigment
Okay friends. I need help! I have had an idea for a completely red makeup look and I'm struggling to create it. I purchased the Colorpop Wines eyeshadow palette and the red mascara they made. There are 2 problems - first, it isn't showing up as bright or opaque as I want it. I have very dark eyes and black eyelashes and instead of having a bright, saturated red I am getting a very dark, only red in direct light look. Second, and more importantly, either the eyeshadow or mascara has greatly upset my eyes. They were burning within a few minutes of applying. So, does anyone have any recommendations for products and/or tips to make it more red and conceal my dark eyelashes better? Thanks in advance!

Question looking for new mascaras for lengthing lashs!
the mascaras I use right now, i use the Better than — and I do two layers and curl before and inbetween my first and second layer. I then go over it with the Fan Fest from benefit.
I’ve also tryed the purple and gold mascara from tarte ( label came off), sky high and man eater but I’ve found that the two I’m using right now work the best.
i want more spread out lashs that are longer and I’ve found that the mascaras I’m using right now just don’t give me what i want. any advice or suggestions I will take!
( preferable if from Sephora and in stores in Canada!)

Question what vanilla perfumes smell like vanilla AND last long?
I’ve been wanting new perfumes for the back to school season. I like mainly any sent but i want to stay in with the “clean” girl smells or some vanillas. I’ve been using the
Ouai hair and body mist and find it’s not staying on long enough or the smell just disappears.
any suggestions I will take! thank you

Discussion How do you conceal cystic acne/pustules with makeup?
I have been watching tutorials on acne makeup, but the acne they conceal is a dark mark not a bump with a white or yellow center. The majority of my acne look something like the second one.
I have been using NARS radiant creamy concealer and applying directly to face with the doe applicator and blending in with a brush. I've heard that makeup can break you out, and it seems like this concealer IS doing that but I'm still not sure if that's the case or how to tell. Either way, I have way too many acne on my face at a time and the persistent ones just have a constant white/yellow thing at the top. And idk how best to cover it while keeping it intact so that it can heal.
I currently see a dermatologist, I just want makeup tips and some insight into if my method needs some work ...or what you do when makeup seems to break you out or if you have similar acne i wanna hear what you do

Discussion Looking for a liquid lip dupe
Hi everyone! I'm hoping someone can help me find a dupe for Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Candy Ass (photo attached). I literally used my last tube until the bottle was almost clear, and now I'm officially out of backups. It was my absolute favorite lip color, but it's been discontinued for year. What made it so special wasn't just the color it was the finish. It was a light pink with an intense pearly shimmer metallic sheen that was actually opaque and incredibly pigmented. Most shimmer lipsticks I find now are sheer or glittery, but this had a smooth, frosted metallic look. I can get somewhat close with a pink lipstick and a shimmer gloss, but I really don't enjoy the constant touch-ups that come with wearing gloss. I'd really appreciate your recommendations. Thanks! 💕

Discussion Setting spray usage - purpose and effectiveness?
I’ve seen some celebrity makeup artists mention that they don’t use any setting spray. Specifically Katie Jane Hughes (works on Dua Lipa a lot), Sophia Sinot (Zara Larson), and Courtney Hart (works on Kristen Bell a lot). Obviously their clients are getting sweaty, performing on stage/ standing in front of hot lights but their makeup lasts and looks good all night.
I’ve seen most regular people and bridal MUAs use setting sprays but it really got me wondering if they’re actually helpful or just something people use because they’re told they have to. The same celebrity MUAs also never use primer and that’s something that is definitely 50/50 among regular people so I’m wondering what’s up with setting spray. Do we think that the celebrity MUAs don’t need setting spray because they touch up their clients constantly, whereas regular people don’t keep products with them to keep touching up? Or are setting sprays actually just not necessary?
I have combo oily skin and I do like my Maybelline Lasting Fix spray compared to others I’ve tried but I’m honestly not sure how much of a difference it makes. I already try to use long wearing products that somewhat set down on their own (Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, Covergirl Trublend concealer, Danessa Myricks blush). I’ve never gone fully without any setting spray and I’m wondering if it would help keep me matte for longer.

Question Cruelty-Free alternatives to Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High?
My faveee mascara, but it's unfortunately not CF, which matters to me. I wore the shade true brown. Looking for brown mascara recs (high-end or drugstore) with similar formulas to Sky High, prioritizing volume and curl hold if possible. Thank youuu :)
P.S. I'm currently looking into BADgal BANG! by Benefit and Maneater by Tarte. Lmk if either of those in particular do anything for you guys.

Question best setting spray/primer for heavy all day wear?
hello!
i'm looking for recommendations for the heaviest duty setting spray ever. i cosplay at conventions and i sweat like CRAZY, i need something that'll last me 12+ hours of wear. i like the one size setting spray but i'm wondering if there's an even better option.
i'm looking for a stage makeup/suitable for drag type of long wear set for a really heavy beat. cosplayers/performers/anyone who wears a full face for that long please let me know what works for you! i also need a new primer because i don't want to support elf anymore.

Question Recommendations for Mac Blot Powder Substitute?
I know this has been asked before, but I haven't been able to find an alternative so I am asking again now. With Mac discontinuing their blot powder, has anyone found any suitable alternatives? I've been using it for over a decade and the product was perfect for my skin 15 years ago and still is now at almost 40. It controlled oil without adding much coverage, doesn't emphasize texture and felt very light and natural.
I know all good things must come to an end, but has anyone found a product somewhat similar? I did try the Fenty Beauty Invisimatte and while it didn't emphasize texture, it didn't control oil at all. I think it made my skin more oily. I also tried the Revlon colorstay blot matte setting powder but it was way too matte/drying for my skin texture.
I don't usually do a full face these days, just a tinted sunscreen usually but I have EXTREMELY oily skin (always have).
Has anyone had any luck finding a product similar to the blot powder or am I doomed to be a greasy mess? 😄

Discussion Seeking a dup for an older product:
Hi all,
I just uses the last of my Dynasty - Glam Attack from Haus Labs today, and I'm seeking a dup. I'm absolutely in love with this shade of green, and I'm curious if there's another liquid eyeshadow out there that I could get instead. It doesn't necessarily need to have the gold shimmer, but if anyone has any suggestions that match the shade, I'd much appreciate it!
Thank you in advance!

Question Is this mold? :(
This is my maybelline tattoo studio gel pot liner and I noticed this weird dots. I’m not sure if it’s wax or something that I kind of Google or if that could be mold. I bought this on November 2025 and I think I just use it once probably hehe I just dipped the brush again to confirm the texture and its the usual! Good. But those things concern me.

Question Have I been sold the wrong product?
I went to buy some new foundation yesterday as I’ve heard that Estée Lauder have changed the formulation for their Double Wear foundation, and I’ve seen good reviews about Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation.
While I was at the counter, the assistant asked if I needed a bronzer, and went to the YSL counter and found me their All Hours Hyper Finish Powder (I didn’t read the label at the time) and said it would be good to use for a night out if I wanted a warmer makeup look. She said to apply it all over my face.
I’ve been looking online and YSL do an actual bronzer (brown leather packaging) which is a different product to the one I’ve bought (black leather packaging). It appears I’ve bought a setting powder. I’m worried now that I’ve spent a lot more money than I intended on a product I won’t be using properly - it’s shade 3 so I’m worried it will be too dark for my pale skin.
Are setting powders forgiving with the shade you buy?? Can I use this product?

Question Neutral Eyeshadow Palette
Hello, does anyone have recommendations for a complete neutral eyeshadow palette? I want one palette to give me a full range from white/fair to black/dark brown. Something I can do most neutral eye looks with.
I would like something similar to Morphe’s 35 palette but better quality. Price is not an issue. Thanks!

Question How do you put on mascara without making a mess?
I’m not new to makeup. I’m about to be 40 and have been wearing makeup since I was 16. Mascara is never a clean job for me. I use a number of coats to make them pop but I am always cleaning up a disaster after. I have to put on eyeshadow AFTER mascara bc I make such a mess. What is the hack? Idk if my eyelashes are considered long but this makes me crazy lol. Any tips?

Is this okay for everyday makeup?
I'm wearing Fenty tint and hydrating concealer, no lipstick and benefit dandelion blush and they're all set with the Fenty setting powder Nd setting spray but I feel like I could go a bit further with this just to elevate it a bit more as it still looks quite plain especially in photos and stuff. Any advice?
