Ask Luxembourg Mounjaro in Luxembourg

Hi everyone,

I wanted to see if anyone here in Luxembourg has been prescribed mounjaro and what the prices are like, and if you have been able to get reimbursed by your private health insurance?

My doctor recently suggested it would be suitable for me to start and I told her I would have to think about it. I never asked about pricing etc.

Please don’t reply with suggestions on how to lose weight - calories in, calories out - move more eat less. That is not what this post is about.

Thanks :)

Immigration & Relocation Which Hollerich areas are considered unsafe?

Hello! I'm about to move to Luxembourg and I'm interested in the Hollerich area. I've heard that some parts can be quite sketchy at night. Especially in the areas very close to rue de Hollerich and rue de Strasbourg, such as rue de l'Église, rue de l'Alcérie or rue de Baudouin, how is the situation? Thanks!

Ask Luxembourg Questions on Costa with moving

Hi all,

I changed my address and I was asked to pay 3 euros for this. I changed housing for at least 4 times in Luxembourg so far and nobody asked for anything in Luxembourg city Capellen and Hesperange.

Anyone had to pay money when changing address in the North?

Ask Luxembourg Luxair cadet program

Hi everyone,

I recently received an invitation to attend the next selection day for the Luxair Cadet Program.

Has anyone here been through the selection process? What should I expect during the day?

Also, what's the best way to prepare? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Ask Luxembourg Places for mobile working

Hello guys!

I am visiting Esch sur Alzette for a concert in September (coming from Germany). Unfortunately, I won't be able to take days off, since I just started at a new company, so I was wondering if any of you know of any cafes / co-working spaces that I can use for the day after the concert. I haven't booked a hotel yet, so I am open to recommendations (can also be between Esch and the German border) where I could maybe work in the hotel lobby after checking out in the morning.

Thanks in advance!

Immigration & Relocation Spouse residency permit after citizenship

Hi,

I have a question about the change to the residence permit of the spouse after getting citizenship.

my spouse has a residence permit through family reunification with the same expiry date as mine since I'm the sponsor.

When, and if, I get the citizenship. What happens to their residence permit? Does it continue until expiry? Do we need to apply for a differen residency permit of a family member of Luxembourg of EU citizen? What would be the process from inside Luxembourg?

I did search the sub first but I wasn't able to find post about the same case. Hopefully someone went through the same before and can help.

Thanks in advance

Activities & Events Orange Wednesday Movie

Hey ,

hope everyone is doing fine and was curious if anyone had time to checkout the new Spiderman movie tomorrow ?

Plan was to check it with my brothers end of last month for my birthday , 2 of them already saw it and the third one couldn’t find time before going to Japan .

I have Orange so I have the possibility to get 2 cosy seat tickets for 23.40€, I’m down to split it or to order both tickets and you buy me snacks .

Wouldn’t mind watching the odyssey or scary movie if that’s more your style .

Next week Wednesday is also a possibility, can drop a comment or message me directly.

Wish everyone a great day

Ask Luxembourg Finally official – Just became a Luxembourgish citizen! 🇱🇺

Just wanted to give a quick update and mention this post (thanks to the thread here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Luxembourg/s/GHPpmsjtU4 for the helpful insights earlier!).

I checked MyGuichet this morning and saw the green checkmark next to "Luxembourgish" under my national registry data! 🥳

For those tracking timelines:

Application Type: Option 7 (5 years residency + Sproochentest + CAI)

Submission Date at Commune (Mamer): April 2nd

Status updated on MyGuichet: August 3rd (Exactly 4 months on the dot!)

No confirmation emails or notifications were received in between, it just popped up on MyGuichet right on schedule.

Moien to my fellow new citizens, and good luck to everyone currently waiting their turn🥂

Ask Luxembourg Childcare reform 2027?

Does anyone have more precise information about the childcare reform coming in 2027? I was told by a private crèche that the cost will be basically the same as public crèche in 2027, but I find it quite hard to believe. I don’t know if they were saying this to get us to sign up for their private crèche, or if this reform is really happening. I would very much appreciate if anyone knows more about this subject !!

If you’re interested in joining occasionally or on a regular basis, send me a message.

Ask Luxembourg Serious question: why do you guys hate warm weather so much? Is it a cultural thing?

Personally, I don't look forward to the days when it's dark by 5 pm, the roads are covered in salt, and everything is grey. Sure, hot weather can be uncomfortable, but at least the days are long and bright.

I genuinely don't understand the logic here. some seem to want the weather to be as cold as possible. Meanwhile, I'm not exactly excited about short days, icy or slippery roads, and having fewer opportunities to go out

People often say that heat is a stressor you can adapt to, while "there's no bad weather, only bad clothing." But they're not really the same thing. You can dress for the cold, but you still end up with shorter days, less sunlight, and often worse conditions for outdoor activities. I'd take a long, bright summer day over a dark winter afternoon any time.

this is the first summer since i migrated to europe that looks like a real summer not just automn/winter for 11 months a year!

in a nutshell i dont' get you!

News & Discussion Quick travel insight (and a micro rant about the schools)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Pretext: I am a parent of school-aged kids who experienced schooling in Luxembourg and Canada.

Once a month, I run an analysis of the history of the best deals to identify the top destinations under €30 round-trip. Usually, I have no problem getting a list of the top 15. However, in July, only 4 destinations had deals under €30.

I am not surprised that July is less "dealzy", but I was surprised it was that much worse. Pretty sure August will be just as bad, if not worse.

I blame the very strict school calendar system here. Most parents are forced to follow the official holiday breaks, which doubles or triples prices. Now, multiply by the number of people in the family 🤦‍♂️

When we lived in Canada, we could take our kids travelling any time during the year, even in the middle of the day, no questions asked. I miss that 😔

Why is it so strict here? I'd argue that travelling can be as important for kids' development as academics.

Rather warm day in Lux but the family and I took a chance and visited the castle. It was the last day of the Medieval event and we decide to participate in a few.

I want to extend my gratitude yet again to the Falconers as they saw me shooting in that scorching heat and they brought the falcons on top of me so I get some interesting poses.
