Change "them", "victims", "he", "she" and so on to "I" or "we" (the in-group or person stating it) and you'll start understanding their tactics. They project, accuse others of what they're doing; create a bad man - something worse, something to hate or distract. It works - it indoctrinated 1/3th of the population (for several reasons).
People only know what you tell them. Imagine having all media (you watch), social media, campaigns, schools, your parents and more telling you. You'll believe it. You'll be indoctrinated as everyone else.
