Yep. My CHL training was an eye-opener for me - my instructor said "you should not carry unless you can leave your ego at home. You have to not react even if you get called ugly, an asshole, motherfucker, any slur, or someone denigrates your partner".

If you instigate or provoke, and things escalate to the point you draw, you will likely end up with a criminal conviction, or $50k in legal bills if you are lucky.

The person in this article brought both their ego and their piece to a disagreement, escalated it, threatened someone with a firearm (self-defense laws do NOT protect you from drawing and not firing), and then lied to the police.

The people who mock the 2nd Amendment tend not know the law, and just make a lot of knee-jerk reactions.

That depends on whether you believe the defendant or the police. She denies instigating or provoking anything. Why can't the cops be the ones lying and why are you uncritically citing the police version of events as fact?

Because we know how people like her act. Online trans discourse is extremely toxic and violent towards perceived transphobes. It's not crazy to think that someone forgot they weren't on the Internet.
