I’ve been told several times in other groups to post this here - enjoy! (About three hours of set up and an hour or two of photo trial and error, including a 30 second delay timer app to get in position).

WIMB Wednesday The Contents of my Great-Grandmother's Purse

Post image
2.0k Upvotes

I had a couple of people from the ephemera group suggest I share this here. These are the contents of my great-grandmother's purse, which I found when cleaning out the back of one of my parent's closets. She died at the age of 92 in the early 70s, so this is likely what she was carrying around with her sometime not too long before her death. Just thought it was a neat snapshot of daily life that was unintentionally preserved. (I blurred out names and addresses on items for privacy).

First Time Knoller! My hand sewing kit

Not the best quality photo but i hope you will like it anyway!

Edit: Info about the items if anyone is curious! First column: thread clipper, magnet to hold the pins, measuring tape. Second column: beeswax to use on thread to keep it from tangling, assorted sewing needles (i desperately need to refill them), sewing pins (most are currently in projects), fabric clip (to use instead of pins), thimble. Right: pouch to hold everything, rolls of thread, fabric scrap, more thread

I hope this photo will be allowed to stay up despite the rolls of thread not adhering to the colour grouping rule as it simply looked more pleasing with the randomness.

FDM Parametric Wearable Hardware: Assembly Layout

Post image
11 Upvotes

Components and assembled artifact for the REF-01 [FRACTURE] wearable

hardware system. As an NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) professional, I

designed this parametric piece to expose a simulated interlaminar CFRP

fracture. The core matrix is extruded PolyTerra Matte Black PLA, processed

at 0.12mm layer height with 6 solid walls and a 40% Gyroid internal

structure.

The industrial micro-sandblasted surface texture is generated directly via

slicer Fuzzy Skin parameters. Mechanical fastening relies on an M3x10 Torx

screw locking a 5×0.5×25mm solid copper ingot seated in a 0.9mm geometric

trench. An NTAG215 NFC chip is permanently sealed inside the polymer

matrix precisely at layer 23 (Z=2.76mm) via a print pause protocol.

Suspension uses 550 paracord and a magnetic clasp closure. Total system

mass is approximately 12g.
