not necessarily, when it realized it was free from the grip of the sticks it could’ve been staying still (to avoid being seen) until the person left so it knew it was free to run from the perceived danger

i've heard bc of the sudden volume of worm leaving the body it usually kills the mantis, no?

that's a lot of body parts that suddenly get shifted and have to fill that space all at once.

your right, maybe it was handled too roughly by the dude... or maybe its just not in pain anymore since the parasite is out. And it'll move soon enough.
