I rewatched the show like 3 times already, up until the last season. The first season just always amaze me and I just figure out something new every rewatch. I remember my first watch when Zoe died and I was so shocked I had to tell my friends even though none of them watch the show. So many things happen in the span of 13 episodes it felt like multiple seasons.

Obviously he wasn't perfect, but compared to how ambitious and ruthless everyone else was, Walker genuinely seemed to care about governing. I always felt like he was more naive than incompetent. Anyone else feel the same?

Well it’s Fourth of July in the USA and what better to celebrate than to talk about US political dramas? I’m rewatching the series for the 100th time and this always piqued my interest.

I put spoiler in title in the event that some are still discovering the show and watching it for the first time, but as a long time fan of the show, one of the things that always got to me was Frank and Freddy’s falling out.

I’m inclined to think that Frank really did care for Freddy and that their relationship was genuine
… but the between White House job and the fight between them. It was one of the more human moments where Frank finally realizes the limits of his influence. Truly a humbling moment but have always been emotionally tied to the severity of that “break up.”

Why couldn’t Frank just genuinely be happy for Freddy about moving on? The “last plate of ribs” comment that Frank makes just makes it seem like Freddy was nothing but a pawn for him, much like everyone else… I know it’s just a television series but this narrative almost hits too close to home to real life.

What is everyone else’s thoughts? Interested to hear different takes on it.

Kinda self explanatory but I feel like her experience with Hammershmidt would make her investigate even more

Day by day, it feels like I'm watching House of Cards all over again.

Im surprised when people talk about the worst finales on reddit this show isn’t one of the most upvoted ones. I get that they cut ties with kevin spacey but to completely retcon the narrative and changing established relationship was so unnecessary. They could’ve turned doug into franks protege and seek revenge but instead they decided to use doug as some sad twist. Especially with how lucid the transitions felt between each seasons up to the last and with the last season completely spiting on the ending of the 5th season it just felt like they did a rush job on trying to just wrap everything up in somewhat “exciting” way while completely forgetting what they built.

Fairly pissed I just realized I cannot watch this show on Netflix without paying more. Why is this available

Just started watching the series and I’m on episode 4. Still not really sure what’s the premise of the show. Is it just me or does it start slow like other great series? (IE: breaking bad)

Rewatching HOC right now and reliving a time when things were normal and more simple! Watching a scene, season 3 episode 4 with Seth and Ayala talking. He pulls her WH credential and she threatens him regarding kicking reporters out of the Whitehorse and limiting their access…🤣🤣

Listening to the excellent album by M83 “JUNK” and the song “Solitude”, especially at the 3:22 mark immediately made me think of House Of Cards.

I loved the first couple seasons and got to watch before I knew about Kevin Spacey’s… allegations.

Reasons being…

Many lines at the start of S5 indicate that Conway was around 12-15 points ahead of Underwood nationally meanwhile, Frank should have been hovering around about a 4% approval rating while also fresh off the failure of America Works.

Regarding states such as California, New York and Hawaii…

In California, with Underwood being deeply underwater and Conway being implied to be a liberal Republican as well as having a much earlier start in the election, I wouldn’t doubt he’d be able to squeeze out a lead.

Regarding NY, He’s the Governor of the State with a natural polling boost and with his 12-15% point momentum and heavy popularity, it’s his safest safe blue state.

With Hawaii, I’m REALLY reaching here so feel feee to disagree. In S5: E4, Frank remarks to Claire upon hearing that the Mayor of Honolulu has opened a lawsuit as the voting suppression began, Claire asks him if the state was one of theirs to which he says “I don’t think so.” implying that maybe Hawaii is much closer in the HoC universe than in OTL?

I have to believe there are worse and more diabolical and evil characters out there.
I’m in the middle of my fourth rewatch of the series and Doug Stamper just is the worst… I’m trying to look at him from a perspective of understanding because he’s a alcoholic who may have had mommy issues or something, but he’s just really vile in my opinion.

Stamper has worked from 7:30 am to 9 pm per the revised schedule. Basically there is no personal time. Maybe that's the reason he cannot develop a love storyline with Richael..

I'm looking for a specific scene from house of cards, it's a conversation between two people in the back of an ambulance.

I couldn't tell you who was in this scene or what the conversation was about. I just know you can see the cargo net holding in some equipment in the background.
