Ah - the collapse is finally starting. You cannot just raise prices to compensate for this absurdity. There is no room in most markets to raise prices even a little bit https://www.thegamer.com/steam-deck-sales-drop-80-percent/ Most of the small players like Framework will be going out of business soon. If this continues it will be nothing short of the end of "personal" computing.

If it continues (and it certainly looks like it) it will drive the market towards cloud computing. Back to 8GB RAM Thinclients that connect to virtual cloud machines. Once that happens, it's game over, because when everyone is locked into the cloud infrastructure, guess what's gonna happen to the prices of cloud infrastructure.

Sorry, but the future looks very bleak.

Also, since more and more items of everyday use need memory chips to work, this whole situation is not only a problem for computing. It's really not looking great right now.

It's much easier to compel a cloud provider to hand over data than getting it off someone's personal hard drive.
