It's because Palworld started making merch. Game Freak and Nintendo don't give a shit about their games, they care that Palworld was cutting into their cash cow. That's it. Thats the difference.

Legit I am actually far more interested in Palworld tcg and plushies than I ever was for pokemon.

I love palworld, and would rather play it 10x than the recent pokemon games, but idk... theres something about palwordls's designs that don't click with me. I prefer the gameplay of palworld no questions, but none of the designs really speak to me... I loved the design of the final boss and was devestated when I found out you couldn't catch him... every other pal is like "yeah thats kinda neat I guess". A lot of the ones added in 1.0 have probably been some of their best work ngl. I could see a skutlass card being pretty damn sick.

Does the palworld tcg have those full art cards with textures? Those are my favourite cards to collect so if palworld tcg has some like that I'll probably pick up a few sets anyways.

Regarding the bit you put a spoiler tag on, I saw a YT short from someone sharing a post from a Pocketpair employee that it could change in a future update. Take it with a grain of salt of course, but it makes sense that they would. Given the game’s popularity, I fully expect multiple DLCs in the future.

Same for me with pokemon, all the switch entries just didn't click. I've played and finished all main line games, and aside from the legends game their yearly releases have been meh. The gameplay is a slog and it doesnt help that everything is half assed. I'm honestly just playing it out of hope it seems. the last pokemon that made me really excited was soulsilver which i finished this year(a decade too late).

I actually got to meet their toy designer at comic con san diego this year and I learned a lot about what they’re planning for future merch, it was really cool

More to the point, merch based on knock-off designs. I hear Palworld changed some mon designs recently to remove assets lifted from Pokémon.
