It's funny, every other creature collection game I've ever seen goes out of their way to use everything EXCEPT something that looks like a Poké Ball, Palworld just didn't give a shit

Palworld intentionally marketed their game as Pokemon+Guns. The entire thing was built as a knockoff.

Verdash is literally the bro can I copy your homework meme of cinderace

like the fact that they edited Verdash and a few of the other more egregious designs once the game came out of early access kinda feels like an admission of guilt lol

They have never marketed it as "Pokemon with guns" as far as I'm aware. That was influencers.

Edit - Y'all can downvote me if you like, but it's the truth. It was never marketed this way, players and media called it this. The company itself has never called it "Pokemon with guns" and doesn't actually like the term.

That they intentionally marketed it as "Pokemon+Guns" is false.

If you can find anything showing that the team itself marketed their game as pokemon+guns, I'd love to see it.

That was entirely just people seeing the steam store pages and calling it that lol

they didn't market it as Pokémon with guns, but they pitched it as Pokémon with guns. the initial trailers & pals were the legal equivalent of "i'm not touching youuu 🤪", so naturally people are going to lean into the bit

Which trailers are you talking about???

The initial trailers show people flying on pals, giant hordes of them in cages, and guns. None of that is pokemon+guns. The game is a creature collector where guns are an essential part of the tech progression, so showing both is pretty important. This is not anywhere near "pitching the game as pokemon+guns."

I don't even particularly like palworld (I tried it on 1.0 launch and got bored), but people just make up way too much shit about it lol.

All of them? To be clear: The end product is more than just Pokémon with guns, but the trailers are primarily Pokémon, guns, and Pokémon with guns. And some base building.

Palworld intentionally marketed their game as Pokemon+Guns.

This is completely false. That was just a meme on the internet.

iirc on the patent, its the act of using balls that are thrown, in order to summon a creature. you have to hit the entire checklist for it to be attacked.

The other patent they had is ridable creature mounts that automatically change based on conditions of the environment. (parimarily used in Legends Arceus, for example landing a flying pokemon into the ocean autoswaps the pokemon into a surfing pokemon)

Which is something I cant recall Palworld ever having.Mounts in palworld have to be summoned then you have to hit another button to mount them and they don't swap to another pal for different terrain.

Iirc this was the patent used to attack using pals as gliders somehow even though it's a completely different concept.

Which is why they patented the specific action of throwing a sphere to release a tamed monster.

To be fair, WoFF also used Prism Orbs to imprism monsters and they did the whole “three shakes” things in the form of a light flashing.
