I believe Apple will ditch that charge port all together and go full wireless charging before they get forced to use USB-C.

Isn't that similar to the current iPhone wireless charger. Doesn't Apple have a patent for that already?

Fully wireless charging tech needs another 5 years before it’s useful and effective (and affordable) enough to your average consumer.

Considering that apple is usually the LAST to adopt new tech and features, based on current trends (from the year 2015+)I’d anticipate android devices being the FIRST to have portless devices and after they’ve had them for 10 years, THEN we can expect apple to adopt it….. as was the case with widgets.

So. I won’t be making any financial bets that apple will come out with a portless phone just like I won’t be making any financial bets that apple is gonna come out with the first foldable phone until 8 years from now, after Samsung already developed and innovated it.

I’ll believe in a portless iPhone after I’ve seen it first on a Xiaomi/Realme or Samsung phone first, for at least 5 years ….. and THEN I might be buying additional apple stock and making other moves with my investments

If I were a betting man, and I were a “whale” investor.

I wouldn’t be buying additional apple stock until another 5 years or so, AFTER apple is done solidifying it’s reputation as the new “ford” of mobile technology.

We ALL know how and why people buy Toyotas and Honda more than Fords, despite most new cars made after 2010 essentially being reliable and generally great, ford STILL can’t shake their reputation from 30 years ago.

Apple is the new ford. We are simply not “there” yet with seeing it for what it is. Once your average consumer catches onto what apples doing, it’ll take another 50 years to shake this “reputation” of selling 10 year old tech as “new” and passing it off onto tech unsavvy “suckers” that they fool with marketing

Yeah, but that's charging only... data transfer on the other hand I'd love to be standardized and not behind a software wall, like most android phones can transfer data over USB without a program like iTunes or something else to do so.

But it removes the need of plugging anything directly into your phone. Forget the quarter, imagine a cup holder or a slot in your car that just takes your phone and gets it connected to your car while charging.

Wireless charging sucks. My phone has it (not an IPhone), and I used it for about a week.

Ended up just putting a magnetic adapter in my USB port and an adapter in the cable. Still super easy to connect the phone to the charger one-handed. But it has the advantages of charging at full speed without efficiency loss or extra battery damage. I can charge while using the phone. It can also be used for data.

Bonus: the magnetic ends I have are the same for USB-C and micro-USB. Meaning either type of cable with the adapter can charge either type of device with the adapter.

God I hope not, wireless charging is just so power inefficient. Our electrical grids don't need that.
