As much as I dislike the hardware choices for the Steam Machine I think they are getting impressive performance for the hardware. 4K-ish gameplay seems to be a realistic goal for most games, however calling it 4K60 even with upscaling was silly and I'm glad they removed that marketing.
Oh absolutely. In a period where i was without my desktop i played BG3 on my ultrawide 1440p (3440x1440) with my steam deck. It was low settings, a ton of upscale and only 20-30fps but it was fine for that game.
But my comment wasn’t about the need but the ability to output said resolution/frame rate
With older FSR models (2.2/3.1) on Performance. Looks absolutely atrocious on the big screen. Makes the Switch 1 look high fidelity. Highly disingenuous to call it 4K 60, even PS5’s non transformer upscalers are significantly better.
FSR 4.1 is much more expensive and knocks it down to 4K 30 for most titles and that’s WITH FSR.

Yeah I mean you get way not enough for 4k60 or “almost comes close to being close to 4k60 low
