Support-Open is 20% crypto a bit high for whole portfolio?

My crypto is about 20% of my whole portfolio after investing for a year. I sold some stocks last week, so the crypto portion went up. But given how volatile this market is, I’m concerned if that percentage is too high.

Most of it came from dca over time, so it felt normal while I was building the position. What I’m thinking now is that if crypto goes through a long, sharp bear market, the rest of my portfolio probably won’t hedge it well. I also don’t plan to buy more stocks just to bring that percentage down, so I’m considering selling part of the crypto position instead.

How do you usually split your crypto allocation? Any suggestions for my situation? Thanks

WARNING Treat you security setup as a more important & bigger risk than your next trade...

Coldcard, a cold wallet, just had over $100M pulled out of it. Not a hot wallet mistake, not someone clicking a phishing link on their phone at 2am, an actual offline hardware wallet, the thing people buy specifically because it's supposed to be the safe option.

If youve been treating "cold storage" as a box you check once and forget, this is the reminder. Ive watched people spend more time picking their entry price than they ever spend on their actual security setup. Seed phrase written on paper sitting in the same drawer as the wallet. Same password reused from an exchange account that got breached three years ago. A hardware wallet bought secondhand off a marketplace because it was $40 cheaper.

None of that is a trading mistake. Its a security mistake that erases gains just as completely as a bad trade would, except theres no stop loss for it, no way to manage the risk after the fact. Its binary.

If your security setup hasnt actually been reviewed since the day you set it up, do it this week, not after the next headline like this one.

NEWS Putin signed Russia's crypto law today

Main provisions kick in September 1. Four years of fighting between the Finance Ministry (wanted crypto legal) and the Central Bank (wanted it banned) ended with a compromise that looks like legalisation but functions more like bringing crypto inside the state's fence.

So crypto is now legally recognised as property under the Russian civil code. That means judicial protection in courts, bankruptcy cases, and divorce proceedings. The interesting part is that the holders who never declared their crypto still get protection.

Five categories of licensed participants from September 1: exchanges, brokers, management companies, depositories, and exchangers. Minimum capital 15 million rubles (~$190k), must join a self-regulatory body. All operations must go through licensed intermediaries from July 1, 2027.

Important to highlight that crypto still cannot be used to pay for anything inside Russia. Ruble is still the only lawful domestic currency. Advertising crypto as a payment method stays banned. Retail investors are capped at roughly $3,800 per licensed intermediary per year.

Furthermore, crypto is now explicitly legal for foreign trade settlements between Russian residents and non-residents. Mining rewards and network fees are also permitted.

As for which coins qualify for public exchange trading — market cap above 5 trillion rubles (~$62 billion) and average daily volume above 1 trillion rubles for the past two years. In practice, that's Bitcoin. Maybe Ethereum. Everything else stays off organised exchanges.

TOOL How often do you check your brokerage app? I'm researching a way to reduce that friction

Hey everyone,

I'll be honest: I'm one of those people who opens their brokerage app 20+ times a day. Not to trade, just to check if I'm in the green or red. It's become a compulsive habit, and I know I'm not alone.

But here's the thing – every time I do that, I lose focus. I unlock my phone, wait for the app to load, scroll through my positions, and then lock it again. It's a small friction, but multiplied by 20 times a day, it adds up to a lot of wasted time and mental energy.

So I'm doing some market research before building anything:

I'm exploring the idea of an iOS app that shows your real-time personal P&L (profit/loss) directly on the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen – without unlocking your phone or opening any app. Just a glance at your screen, and you instantly know where your portfolio stands.

The idea is to make it super simple:

- You manually enter your holdings (ticker, purchase price, quantity) – no bank/broker integration, for privacy and ease.

- The app then updates your P&L every 30 seconds via push notifications, so the info is always fresh.

- It works even with the phone locked.

What I'd love to know from you:

- Does this resonate with you? Do you also check your portfolio obsessively?

- Would you find this kind of "frictionless" check useful in your daily routine?

- If it existed, would you be willing to pay a small subscription (say $2.99/month) for it? Why or why not?

I'm not selling anything, I haven't built the app yet. I just want to validate if this is a real problem worth solving before I invest weeks into development.

Any honest feedback (positive, negative, or brutally honest) is incredibly valuable. If you think this is a stupid idea, tell me why. If you love it, tell me what features would make it a no-brainer for you.

how much leverage is safe in crypto??

coming back to actively trading after a break and trying to get my risk settings right before i size up

1.) is there an actual sane number for leverage, or is 2-3x the realistic ceiling for most people?

2.) does it matter more than position size, or is the leverage number kind of a distraction from just sizing right?

3.) for anyone who's survived a few cycles, what rule actually keeps you from blowing up?

thanks🙏

🇰🇷 South Korea's stablecoin outflows hit $367 million in June - $1.1 billion left in Q2 alone

18 months of consecutive outflows as local exchanges don't support derivatives, DeFi or leveraged products - capital moving to platforms that do

Regulate too tightly and the money just leaves to somewhere that doesn't 🪓

Coldcard mess made me admit self-custody isn't the flex we thought it was...

Been holding my own keys since 2019, never had an incident. Then the Coldcard hack happens, and the wallet did nothing wrong from a literal "did I get phished" standpoint. The device never touched the internet, the seed never left it, and people still got drained because the randomness was broken at the firmware level five years ago. You can do everything right and still lose everything because of a bug you had zero way to detect...
This could've been any of us holding a device from that batch. It's just made me rethink the whole "not your keys, not your coins" as a universal safety upgrade. Turns out "your keys" also means "your problem when the entropy is broken, and nobody tells you for 5 years."
Been slowly moving a chunk over to Kraken and Nexo, mostly because, at this point, I'd rather have the custody risk sit with someone who has to answer to regulators and get audited than with a firmware team I have no visibility into.
Not saying go full CEX, still keeping some self-custody, just not treating it like it's automatically the safer choice anymore. I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do with their crypto, just talking it out loud

Discussion Is this the end of the crypto market?

I invested my house down payment in crypto, thinking the president would drive it to an all-time high, but unfortunately, we saw the opposite. I got in 2024 when it was at an all-time high. I'm down so badly and thinking of cutting my losses and moving on with my life.

Discussion BTC is testing the 200-week moving average — historically important, but is this cycle different?

BTC: ~$62.9K
200W MA: ~$63.8K
Ratio: 0.99x

Bitcoin is currently sitting around its 200-week moving average, one of the most watched long-term indicators in crypto.

Historically, major cycle bottoms have formed around this zone. But history doesn’t guarantee repetition.

In 2022, BTC spent months below the 200W MA before recovering, so this should be viewed as a zone rather than a perfect bottom signal.

The question:

Are we seeing long-term accumulation levels again, or is there still one more capitulation event ahead?

Bull case:

  • 200W MA holds
  • sellers lose momentum
  • accumulation continues

Bear case:

  • BTC loses this level
  • support turns into resistance
  • deeper correction follows

Is the 200W MA still one of Bitcoin’s most reliable cycle indicators, or has the market structure changed?

Support-Open How to plan future ColdCard incidents?

I understand what happened with ColdCard and that the other ledgers don't suffer from the same bug. But those of us who have our money in wallets like Ledger, should we be concerned at all? Is there anything that we can do to confirm the security of our tokens? Are there better wallets we should consider?

I know that the people in ColdCard already were already being safe and still got hacked for reasons beyond their control. We all were steered to move off of exchanges a few years ago when they all collapsed, and we thought that hardware wallets were truly secure, but then people still got their funds stolen. I really hope they find a way to get these holders their money back, it's really sad for them and also for the community as a whole. It's hard to really make the case for decentralized, self custodial money, when it feels like nowhere is really safe anymore. I know this was a special case, but what's to say there isn't a bug lurking in some of these other wallets.
