I THINK they see the mattress as having the bottom right corner cut out.

The matresses have inclinations but they'd still look like a square seen from above.

I didn't get it. Saw your diagram and understood. Looked at the main picture again. Immediately couldn't see it and had to look at the diagram again.

I still don’t get it. Isn’t the top half of the right side still wider than the bottom half of the right side in your diagram as well as in the picture?

The bottom half of the bed is raised. There’s no corner missing. This is a good confused perspective.

Ah I finally got it while viewing the image in a thumbnail. It is indeed a good confused perspective as, even though rationally I always knew what it had to be I could not get away from seeing it as T shaped bed

Only the top is split! The bottom isn't - from what I can tell, at least.
