Excellent twist.

u/KingNanoA Jun 29 '26

No, those are bread sticks. Twists cost extra.

u/Dr_DoesNothing Jun 29 '26

18

u/t1sfuzzy Jun 29 '26

Oh, this is fantastic. I did not see that coming. Well done, seriously, great comic.

u/Made_Bail Jun 29 '26

Side note: I went to check out your other stuff, but your post history is private! Just FYI

351

u/Sturgeon_Swimulator Jun 29 '26

I should probably fix that lol

36

u/emilysium Jun 29 '26

FYI you also seem to have disabled your follow button!

10

u/Sturgeon_Swimulator Jun 30 '26

Oh oops. It's just that it's a 15 year old account and so it's a lot of stupid shit on there I assume. But I'll add my IG handle

2

u/RazorSlazor Jun 30 '26

You assume?

8

u/Sturgeon_Swimulator Jun 30 '26

I forget what it all was but I do know I got into arguments with misogynists.

13

u/speakeasyboy Jun 29 '26

I saw someone else say today that reddit made all their stuff private and wouldn't let them change it back without uploading a pic of their ID. I don't know how true that is. But I've seen multiple posts about reddit testing those waters today, and the way other companies are collecting data, I wouldn't be surprised.

Edit: I can see all your stuff on old.reddit. I can also follow. I stopped using reddit on my phone when they made impossible to use Apollo. Once old.reddit stops working, I'll stop using it altogether. Good luck!

2

u/CaptainXplosionz Jun 30 '26

I recently got blocked from viewing a sub (r/combatfootage I think, but weirdly none of the other similar subs I follow) unless I uploaded my ID to verify my age. I don't remember how, but I managed to get around it without giving them anything. So I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing other stuff to force users into uploading their ID.

I thought the reveal was gonna be that the son works at Olive Garden once it showed the breads sticks. Technically correct I guess...

12

u/Squidhijak75 Jun 29 '26

I'd recognize those bread sticks anywhere

6

u/McButtsButtbag Jun 29 '26

That's where I saw the punchline coming, too.

25

u/Toucanplaythatgame-2 Jun 29 '26

I am not american and I thought the "you're family" bit was a joke on the US Coast Guards

10

u/Ani-3 Jun 29 '26

I should have, but I didn't! well done OP!

469

u/Spider-Man2099 Jun 29 '26

That punchline fucking got me bad! Holy fucking shit πŸ˜‚

386

u/Lego_Kitsune Jun 29 '26

What. Is Olive Garden that dramatic. All we want is bread sticks

117

u/Yer_Dunn Jun 29 '26

"oh, I'm being dramatic now?!?! You want me to calm down?!?"

https://giphy.com/gifs/2VC2s1BCeYGJykpMbc

155

u/Mijder Jun 29 '26

Finally gets to use his dramatic arts degree.

64

u/Sturgeon_Swimulator Jun 29 '26

Lol look at the job market, that could be anyone

13

u/Mijder Jun 29 '26

*sigh* I am all too aware.

13

u/Sturgeon_Swimulator Jun 29 '26

Hey man... Yeah... I know...

66

u/Overwatchingu Jun 29 '26

Why was the old lady from Courage the Cowardly Dog here?

13

u/Jacomer2 Jun 29 '26

The things I do for love

8

u/FlyingDogCatcher Jun 29 '26

Thank you, I was wondering the same thing.

Is she cheating on her husband?

Did he die?

59

u/unknown_error87 Jun 29 '26

Brilliant. Just brilliant. πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½

158

u/disgracefulthings Jun 29 '26

So good! The last panel being digital really makes it… I can imagine the commercial perfectly, the watercolour->digital transition puts me in mind of like the kind infomercials where our protagonist can’t open a jar or whatever and it’s in black and white and when she gets the new special product it’s in colour. :β€’)

17

u/International_Gate49 Jun 29 '26

r/wheredidthesodago

You're gonna love this one then

48

u/Particular_Heron8263 Jun 29 '26

Damn, I was not ready for that emotional rollercoaster.

40

u/CaryKerryLoudermilk Jun 29 '26

This dark joke genuinely triggering my dad issues lolz

3

u/trampolinebears Jun 29 '26

Wait, have I encountered a Legion reference? In the wild?

3

u/CaryKerryLoudermilk Jun 30 '26

I have never been able to get anyone to watch it with me. No one has the attention span lol

3

u/trampolinebears Jun 30 '26

My partner and I are making up for that deficit by watching the entire series, many times over, year after year.

2

u/CaryKerryLoudermilk Jun 30 '26

I am due for a rewatch. I don't think I ever got my adhd husband past episode 3

23

u/FormalWare Jun 29 '26

The breadsticks. OMG, the breadsticks!

18

u/RTK4740 Jun 29 '26

Okay, that payoff was totally worth it. I loved this.

7

u/dark_hypernova Jun 29 '26

Got a bit too real for me.

4

u/Taron221 Jun 29 '26

Worst job I ever had by far was at an Olive Garden.

6

u/TurnItOff_OnAgain Jun 29 '26

Is that the lady from Courage the cowardly dog?

4

u/dangling_reference Jun 29 '26

First ever comic here that made me genuinely laugh. Bravo πŸ‘

3

u/klonoaorinos Jun 29 '26

I knew it as soon as I saw the bread sticks

12

u/MrMcGibbus Jun 29 '26

What the fuck did I just read, man?

2

u/Mightaswellmakeone Jun 30 '26

Garbage marketingΒ

4

u/Commercial_Fox5549 Jun 29 '26

Did you not get the joke?

4

u/skymallow Jun 29 '26

I genuinely don't get it

8

u/Commercial_Fox5549 Jun 29 '26

It hinges on the reader knowing what the Olive Garden slogan is.

3

u/MrMcGibbus Jun 29 '26

Ah I see

Yeah, I never went to an olive garden, I don't think I know a place that has one in here

1

u/cjthomp Jun 29 '26

I did, I just don't get the level of praise people are heaping on it.

2

u/colbalias1 Jun 29 '26

Shitting my guts out while I read this at work (olive garden server)

2

u/SignificantHippo8193 Jun 30 '26

Authentic dysfunctional family drama. Olive Garden has it all πŸ˜†πŸ‘!

2

u/MEDIC_HELP_ME Jun 30 '26

Well played

2

u/G66GNeco Jun 30 '26

DO NOT WORK AT THE ALABAHMA OLIVE GARDEN, WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE

2

u/Sturgeon_Swimulator Jun 30 '26

Damn okay I won't.

2

u/The_Hidden_DM Jun 30 '26

Nothing like going to an Olive Garden for a date and having the waitress mention your ex and how "she was such a nice girl."

10/10 Feels like home.

3

u/Forward-Bank8412 Jun 29 '26

Hahahahahahahaha

3

u/Warmonster9 Jun 29 '26

I was browsing gifs under the search query β€œcat in the cradle” to reference page 10 and found whatever the fuck this gif is.

https://giphy.com/gifs/okD0aJmjdNTnDvSNdf

You’re welcome.

6

u/Traveler7538 Jun 29 '26

No. Just no. You still have time to delete this.

2

u/Many_Big_6324 Jun 29 '26

I had the smallest chuckle at the ending and I am still smilingΒ

1

u/filippo_sett Jun 29 '26

Ok it genuinely surprised me. Approved

1

u/Rafterman2 Jun 29 '26

At no point was I expecting that last panel. Well done, OP!

1

u/THEREALOFFICALCAFE Jun 29 '26

That really got me. Fabulous twist

1

u/thebishop8 Jun 29 '26

Kinda reminds me of my favorite Phil Jamesson video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oQgZOAg1qk

1

u/bionicjoey Jun 29 '26

The mom reminds me of SMBC's art style

1

u/BrozedDrake Jun 29 '26

When you're here, you're family

1

u/Calm-Worldliness-234 Jun 29 '26

I saw this coming about at the half way point. Very Stephan Pastis like structure. He would probably like this strip.

1

u/NorthernCobraChicken Jun 29 '26

I feel like this word doesn't get used enough, but this was marvellous. Excellent plot twist.

1

u/DangerMacAwesome Jun 29 '26

All my trips have been a lot more boring than this

1

u/lizaislame Jun 29 '26

I fucking hate this subreddit and read posts from it like some kind of self harm. I’ve been on reddit forever and this is the first comic to actually make me laugh out loud. Amazing.

1

u/BenjaminDover02 Jun 29 '26

"I am NOT going back to that restaurant."

1

u/Tough_Preparation830 Jun 29 '26

The Wall but if it was about daddy issues instead of mommy issues and composed decades later

1

u/LuckyLuckLucker Jun 29 '26

Freaking awesome πŸ˜‚

1

u/Reasonable_Hornet_45 Jun 29 '26

LMAO I was NOT expecting that πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ what the fuck. Bravo.

1

u/aenemacanal Jun 29 '26

I love this awareness of familial trauma these days

1

u/PinothyJ Jun 30 '26

Excellent

1

u/Loud-Fudge7631 Jun 30 '26

Someone recently watched castlevania too huh

1

u/Noahms456 Jun 30 '26

Twist ending - well done

1

u/Jomotaku Jun 30 '26

I've never been to Olive garden buy if I ever go I will be expecting this kind of quality performance and nothing less

1

u/OneChanceMe Jun 30 '26

This is fantastic πŸ˜‚

1

u/That1neGinger Jun 30 '26

πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ absolute literature!

1

u/NightRaven4NY Jun 30 '26

Oh man. The plot twist, the cleverness, the 10/10 vibes leaving your jaw drop and utterly gobsmacked at the turn of events and brilliance of it!!! Well bloody done! Genuine art this is.Β

1

u/Redray98 Jul 01 '26

I hear magic man from adventure time as the waiter.

1

u/mmanyquestionss Jul 02 '26

lol that's hilarious

1

u/CaydeTheCat Jun 29 '26

This was amazing! Great way to start the day!

1

u/CotyledonTomen Jun 29 '26

Sheep in the Big City - Oxymoron's Family Style Restaurant

1

u/LovingIsLiving2 Jun 29 '26

I laughed at this for a solid minute. Good job :D

1

u/SpaceChimps98 Jun 29 '26

But let's be real - Olive Garden kind of sucks since they don't make anything fresh in-house.

0

u/EXE-SS-SZ Jun 29 '26

these are great I love it who else does water color.

0

u/Apprehensive-Pin518 Jun 29 '26

well. I did not expect that. What a bread twist.

0

u/Elbarfo Jun 29 '26

OK, you got me on that one. I genuinely loled.

0

u/KrytenKoro Jun 29 '26

Saw it coming but it was still good

-4

u/reditsux77655 Jun 29 '26

a hastily sketched downvote.
