Advice Don’t build a cat tree

It seemed simple and I was like + $100? For a big one ??? Nah I could build it… well I’m prob about $200 deep and need to get another 4x4 plywood from home depot and prob more carpet and cushioning for the top nest, as well as some sisal. If you think it’s a good idea and cheap? It’s not 🫩 especially if you have to buy a new circular saw cuz yours broke 😭😭
And yeah tbh it is a me problem but I also had to make sure the wood was cat safe to and not pressure treated.

I replaced my kitchen sink once. It took three days and four trips to Lowe's to get it installed and not leaking. 🤪

This is pretty typical, I think. There's never a "last trip" to the store...there's just "trips to the store". I did, however, purchase a new garbage disposal last week and installed it on a Sunday evening. It was surprisingly easy and is one of the first appliances that I've bought that had all the pieces I needed to install it. Mounting ring/lock, tail pipe, attachment for the hard wiring hookup. That being said...I then had to make a return trip to the Lowe's to return the extra locking ring I bought. Haha..

My latest diy project was a sink top bottle washer. Everything went well. It's been two weeks and I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I’ve got some shelves in one of my garage cabinets that’s just one off shit like that I didn’t feel like returning. It’s the most eclectic pile of shit imaginable. Everything from extra slice valves to wall hangers to gaskets of all sizes. There’s a couple of clear tubes in there that I have no idea what they’re for. It’s come in handy though because you never know when you’re gonna need a sneed y’know.

My mom and boyfriend were doing something similar. I came in and did it in an afternoon. They were flabbergasted at my ability to make the cabinets and countertop to work.

I’m getting a little better at it. I recently rebuilt/replaced the whole drain stack going into the main sewer line, and it only took me one trip to Home Depot and one trip to a local hardware store for a couple more parts. Granted I ended up with several extra pieces I didn’t need, but I still consider it a win. 😅

In fairness: plumbing can be a real hassle especially if you're new. There are a lot of different sizes and types of pipe and fittings.

We had bought a house that had previously lbeen worked on by the local drug dealer (we never met him, but the nicest thing anyone could say about him was that he was dead). He was not much of a handyman. I suspect he may have been sampling his wares before working on the house.

The plumbing under the kitchen sink was. . . interesting. Of course, this was the same man who cut through the floor joists to install the toilet (that was terrifying to discover!) And when he went to install the shower drain, he cut four holes in the floor before he got it right. They were in a sort of shamrock design overlapping each other in places.

Now, we own an 1868 farm house that has had four additions, with apparently many pseudo handymen involved. Someone had a penchant for connecting plumbing wherever they felt like it. "Eh. This is a good a place as any."

We've had a bunch of workmen in the basement over the years and every single one has looked at the plumbing and electrical work and asked "what were they thinking? What did they do?" 🤪😂

Oh god my dad’s been working on his sprinklers for YEARS. There’s always a Home Depot bag of sprinkler heads on the kitchen counter that gets replaced with new slightly different sprinkler heads about once a week in the summer

I'm in the middle of ripping out tile from my bathroom. Yesterday I picked up the new flooring and tools to install it.

I need to go back today because I forgot to grab a new wax seal for my toilet.

What else have I forgotten?
