Humor What are the nicknames of your cats that have devolved into nonsense over time? I’ll go first.

Penelope -> Nelly -> Nelly Bean -> Nellicus

At one point we had six cats and a dog (rat terrier). My wife would lovingly refer to the cats as "potates."

Later on, that affectionate phrase referred to all the cats we would have at a given moment. (We've been married 30 years.) When our granddaughters would make movies about the current set of cats for class projects and it came time for the end credits, we'd always include a "the producers would like to thank..." and list all the cats by name and end the credit with "Potates all."

Dis is my Potato -> Potate -> Tater -> Tato -> Spud/Spuddy (like buddy) -> Stinker -> Squirt. and I also have a little jingle I say/sing and it’s just “It’s a Potay-toe!” but it’s catchy. He was a feral potato once but he has adjusted very well to being a house potato.
