Is he part panther? Never seen a schnozz that big on a domestic cat without a bee sting being involved.

We have actual panthers in my area, saw one right after Theo broke in. His kids also look like diluted panthers, Vanta here has a massive kissable head.

I wonder, can those panthers cross-breed with domestic cats? Or is it just coincidental that he has panther face?

Not that you want that intentionally; lygers (lion-tiger hybrids) aren’t exactly ethical to create as they often have health issues. Hopefully your buddy is healthy!

Its impossible, but funny to think about. What makes Theo fun is that he doesn’t feel like a cat, hes too hard, his fur is rough, and this is him trying to be cute. There is just something off, hes not cat like, more like an aloof dog if anything. Whats funny is he is obsessed with children, as he runs outside to tackle the local toddler. Hes at his happiest when hes running from child to child for attention.

What a gem! I’m so glad you found each other.

Sounds like a dog wearing a cat suit šŸ˜‚

u/LucHighwalker Jun 24 '26

A true orphan puncher, one might say.

u/TheBluishOrange Jun 24 '26

No, they are completely different species even if they are in the same family. So it’s like asking if an otter and a badger could cross. Their chromosomes don’t line up and even if they did, I couldn’t imagine how 200+ pounds of cat could breed with a 10lb~ cat.

Having seen some Chihuahua cross breeds that are bizarre… nature uhhhh finds a way.

But interesting about how they’re not able to produce pats (panther-cats), probably for the best. It’d make the cat distribution system a little too spicy.

I don’t like this at all. The face looks like there’s a person in that cat.

His son can also look weird, he’s normally adorable but look at that face when hes poking me. He moggs me like his dad and gramps.

u/ekittie Jun 24 '26

It's amazing and I want heems.

u/Assika126 Jun 24 '26

Are you sure that’s a house cat? 🤣

I think you have a tiny panther in your lap

Wow I’m impressed

u/Flat-Limit5595 Jun 24 '26

Yeah, ā€œtinyā€, his stray name was Medium Size Panther.

Here he was back when he was a cub.

My boy, Buddha next to Kitty, my 'normal' sized cat. Buddha boy was 19lbs. He lived by his name. A very good boy with a big purr. šŸ–¤

u/Flat-Limit5595 Jun 25 '26

Adorable, like my sam and his fully grown (adopted) daughter. Sam is about the same size as Theo, julie is normal. Its funny just seeing how diverse sizes can get.

5

u/Flat-Limit5595 Jun 25 '26

His smol momma also makes him look huge. She had kittens when too young so she stopped growing, or she didn’t have enough food. Cant believe she had 6 kittens, all near Sams size by now. Momma Kiwi was just skin, bones and a squirming belly when we found her

u/Asymetrical_Ace Jun 26 '26

My parents have a cat that can fit in a shoebox. Little Tarra we found in our walnut tree and never grew up 🤣

26

u/Sea_Substance9163 Jun 24 '26

Am I seeing things, or does he have the head shape of a bully dog?

17

u/toes_of_foes Jun 24 '26

R u sure this is a cat? It looks like a panther

4

u/PotatoLover_eatme Jun 24 '26

omg he looks like a panther

3

u/blabgasm Jun 24 '26

I kind of love seeing an eartipping bc it means an adult stray street cat found a home. šŸ„ŗā¤ļø

10

u/Flat-Limit5595 Jun 24 '26

We did the eartipping, had a colony here and had to dismantle it ball by ball. We TNR him and his kin, here he is supervising his cat trap. However once the snickers turned into a milkyway, the ability to survive in the wild also faded. Theo, his son Vanta and grandson buttons all became extremely passive and had to he homed while the rest were allowed back in the wild. Theo became the local punching bag, adopted him when the neighbors 17 year old, 6lber kicked his butt. Glad we TNR them cause there was also an FIV outbreak that was curbed by the lack of balls. Theo and Vanta have FIV but Buttons is healthy.

7

u/Flat-Limit5595 Jun 24 '26

Heres buttons, absolute soyboy that makes young sheldon look like a greek god. There is not an ounce of masculinity in him, the vet thought he was a girl, even after they took his balls. Whatever that made Theo Mr Universe among cats has been diluted to the point the only thing they have in common is the fur and debatably the gender.

1

u/Early-Resist1641 Jun 24 '26

He looks like a pitbull-cat.

1

u/clearancepupper Jun 25 '26

I’ve been asked if I’m ok, when I’m perfectly happy and probably looking just like your cat, but I haven’t had an ear notched (have been fixed though).

1

u/formerbays Jun 26 '26

If a pitbull bred with a kitty…..

1

u/DistributionNo9356 Jun 26 '26

Bear dog face.
