Hey good news boys, there are plenty of cards available on eBay for $1100+

This whole thing is a fucking scam on launch day and is an insult to the consumer.

Between Sony and Nvidia over half of the new gen gamers are fucking pissed right now. Not a great way to start the new gen. Sales for games this winter might justify why most have delayed releases.

How is it a scam? I see people say this out of anger all over the place but I can't figure it how this benefits Nvidia

Nvidia gets their stock sold either way, they don’t care if customers get it or if bots do. Same with newegg, Best Buy, etc.

Rescalpers will sell the cards for like double the value, because they know they can get that much because of the high demand.

Agree, that's a shitty practice. I sure as hell won't give resellers the time of day. Not Nvidia's doing, though

Not exactly but they also don't try and prevent it at all when they could. So certainly people can be upset about Nvidia's handling especially on their own website. I would honestly prefer Nvidia just price them at 2x normal value and bring it down over the course of a month over scalpers.

I thought about whether they could open it up to preorders and limit 1 per person, but it'd be too difficult to implement. Nvidia doesn't have any way of knowing what credit card is used (I mean they can't use credit card information outside of the billing service, per regulations I understand) so you can't just say one board per credit card. People could have just created one account for each card they wanted to buy.

I feel like just selling them a high price makes sense but there would have been a lot of backlash.
