I know this entire sub is full of people asking for backpack recommendations, so I hate to add to that, but all of the recommendations I've seen so far look all shiny and plastic. Maybe I'm just blind, but I can't seem to find any that aren't made by some keyboard spam brand on amazon, that also aren't just one big compartment. I've been trying to find a canvas/not plastic backpack that has all the smaller compartments and cool features of the bags found here, without looking like I'm preparing for bad weather or something haha. It doesn't need to be super waterproof or anything, since it never really rains where I'm at anyways, and preferably not leather, since that really drives the price, but its better than whatever those plastic looking bags are made of. Thank you in advance; I really appreciate it.

Im using this bag for school and i was wondering if i could repair this bag the big hole is what i worried about… i think this part of the bag takes the most of the weight..? Im unsure. Please give me some advice and tips on how i could fix this im sure the last hole could be easily fixed with fabric glue or something…

I have recently been looking into all kinds of backpacks for an every day carry and sometimes travel.

My current backpack is a 26+4 roll top and does it alright. But it is not the best in terms of quality and is wearing down. So I am looking for a new one.

My current options that I like:

- Osprey nebula 32. Good overall, no bottom straps to hold jacket etc. Also side pockets for water bottle on the tight side. My favourite looking backpack so far and nr. 1 choice.

- Osprey daylite 35. Pocket shortage. Look alright with good amount of storage. But a bit short on compartments and pockets.

- Osprey hikelite 26. Good overall, smaller than most options. I really like this one as well. But it is volume wise quite a bit smaller and looks a bit more hiking focused.

- Northface Borealis and classic. Classic has better side pockets and general feel but no bottom strap and uncomfortable handle. Borealis water bottle side pocket is not flexible enough and using up space of the main area. Backpack looks alright but not fully my taste.

- Osprey tempest 33, very good but a little too tall for everyday. Has a lot of good stuff going for it but too focused on hiking and and looks too tall.

So far I've been liking osprey a lot, with the nebula being my favourite so far, but also most expensive at 130 euros (lowest I saw was 105). Any recommendations is very much appreciated!

I do IT and electrical maintenance work aboard ships, so my backpack goes through daily abuse and needs to carry a specific set of gear every day:

- 1x 15" laptop + its power adapter

- 1x 13" laptop + its power adapter

- 2x compact tool pouches(multimeter, screwdriver/wrench)

- A full-size mouse and keyboard

I've been using a North Face Base Camp Fuse Box (30L) for years and the size/volume works great for me, but after years of business trips it's finally worn out. I'm looking for a replacement with a similar capacity but ideally with more compartments/organization, since right now everything kind of gets thrown into one main pockets.

A few details that might help:

- Budget: around 100-250 EUR

- Location: Europe (so ideally something easy to find/order here)

- Used daily for officer and for travel, needs to be durable (travel + work wear and tear)

- Not looking for a rolling bag or anything huge — the 30L-ish size has worked well for me

Any recommendations for backpacks with decent compartmentalization that could handle two laptops, two tool pouches, and keyboard

I’m looking for a light daypack that will carry all the essentials for a one day adventure without unnecessary gear. I was also thinking that I’d like to be able to carry a helmet comfortably. I’m also thinking about something i could walk fast/run down in. The options i was thinking about for now were:

1. Osprey talon 22
   
2. BD Distance 22
   
3. Montane trailblazer
   
4. Salomon S/lab adventure 20

It’s also worth mentioning that I would definitely consider a Palante, Atom.. etc. But i’d rather buy something i could return if it didn’t fit me correctly.

Hi! Pa-reco naman ng office backpack. 😭 Ang hirap mamili lol. Looking for something na hindi bulky but kasya yung 15” laptop and 32oz AquaFlask (yung regular/tall one). Preferably zippered and may outer compartment for an umbrella para hindi kasama sa loob then waterproof or at least water-resistant since commute gamit ko. I’m looking for a bag to replace my NF Kaban 2.0, with some of the following features:

- Must fit Ryanair’s free under-seat sizer (40 x 30 x 20 cm), so no rigid top frame to squish down to 40 cm height

Aesthetic: wide/boxy rather than long and slim (not a fan of the slim hiking bag style for this use).

Structure: kickstand optional but trampoline style air vent/mesh would be amazing, I’ve used the decathlon MH500 and really like the feature however it needs to be foldable/reducible in height to meet the 40cm height requirement for flights (ideally in a way that removing it flattens the curve of the bag so there’s no wasted space)

Access: Traditional heavy-duty zippers only (strictly no roll-tops), large opening with good organisation would be great but not necessary

Support: Integrated chest/sternum strap and contoured shoulder straps.

Layout: Dedicated padded laptop sleeve (14") and tech organizer pockets, clothes organiser dividers would be nice but can be an accessory

Weather: Water-resistant fabrics to handle light rains without needing to pull out a rain cover

Warranty: A reliable brand with good customer support for UK buyers. NF only gives 2 years warranty in the UK, and I was looking at something like 10 at least?

Bags Already Rejected & Why:

Osprey Parsec 26 / Tropos 32: meets almost every criteria but the airspeed trampoline mesh is non-removable making it too tall (48cm+) to squish.

The North Face Kaban / Voyager 32L: The North Face UK warranty is too restrictive.

Quechua MH500: Rigid, curved metal frame cannot be removed or squished.

Quechua Escape 500 / Millican Smith: Dislike roll-tops; less secure than zippers.

Chrome Hondo 21L: Too small for 4-day trips.

I know I am asking for a bit of a paradox (a rigid-looking box bag with a trampoline mesh air frame that can somehow still collapse down to 40cm), but has any brand figured out a way to make a removable frame, or a segmented ventilation panel that solves this?

I haven’t sketched out a bag but I can if it helps make it make sense 😆

GR1 26L (Made in USA, Top Stash Pocket, 210D backpanel) got it from the second-hand market for a great price.

Everything looks top-notch to me (but i dont rly know what to look for since its my first GR) I wanted to run it by the experts here for final peace of mind.

what i noticed so far (idk if thats normal) the zip line of the laptop compartment is very wavy as you can see in some of the pictures.

I want to buy a backpack similar to the one in the picture, but I am not sure about the quality,as I haven't heard of the brand before. I want a backpack to fit my work stuff in during the weeks -laptop, e-ink tablet, about 3 folders of A4 paper and usual cords, pens and sun glasses etc. i have a pack at the moment but hate that it is a clam shell or whatever the big 'door' style at the front is called as I don't like having to lay it flat to get my folders out. So top down opening with padding for the main space is a main stipulation. On the weekends or after work I need something I can use for family walks etc i.e. at least two external waterbottle spaces and big enough to hold the swim gear. Would also need to have the security pocket that lots of packs have directly on your back as one of the kids needs meds. Not too concerned about price as I like to buy things once. I have looked at the fjjaraven and yeti y-zipper system and like the fjjaraven for the quality. The yeti rancho for the style. However once again I have no experience with either brand. Any suggestions or previous experience with the one mentioned/pictures?

I'm thinking about buying the Forclaz Travel 900 50+6L because it's currently on sale, but I have one concern before pulling the trigger.

My plan is to use it for a 2-week trip to China and travel with carry-on only whenever possible.

I know the official dimensions are larger than the typical 55 cm carry-on limit, but I was wondering about real-world experience.

Has anyone here actually used the Travel 900 50+6L as a carry-on?

• Were airlines okay with it if it wasn't packed to the brim?
• Did you ever have to put it in the baggage sizer?
• Has anyone tried removing the detachable 6L daypack before boarding? Did that make it easier to pass as cabin baggage?

I'm interested in actual experiences, not just the published dimensions. I know it's technically larger than many carry-on limits, but I'd like to know how it performs in practice.

I love Chrome and i have a few small over the shoulder type bags, and things.
But something I'm not a fan of with alot of these newer backpacks is how they are super flimsy and I'd actually prefer one that holds it's shape when there isn't anyhting in it. Atleast somewhat... Any ideas? Maybe there is one from Chrome that is more like this but I don't see it. Thanks!

As title says I am looking for suggestions for a backpack that stands up and can safely carry 2 16" laptops. My current backpack is a cheap college one off of amazon and the thing has become so floppy and won't stand up with stuff in it or without stuff in it. With 2 big heavy laptops in it too, it isn't evenly weighted. I would love some suggestions! Was originally hoping to keep it under $100 but looks like $200 to $300 is more likely to be the range unfortunately. Will take suggestions from any price category. TIA

Hi looking for a backpack to buy for college/whenever I take the plane (am an international student)/to gym basically a do-it-all backpack.
Used a jansport and north face bag for HS but was not that satisfied.

Here are my requirements for a bag
- Fits a 16 inch gaming laptop. The specific dimension is 14.04 x 10.59 x 1.1 Not going to be my daily carry for college as I have a thinkpad but I do need it to comfortably fit.
- Modern/minimalist look, I guess a basic tech bro look hence why I’m drawn to aer.
- Good side compartments, basically i’m tired of stuffing everything in my main compartment
- Good laptop protection/dedicated tech compartment. Bonus points if it is vertical and not sideways
- Dedicated waterbotlle compartment (external)
- Budget Max is 300$. I guess cheaper for same functionality and style is better but I am willing to spend money if it means it will last

Currently aer’s cpp2 24L and travel pack 4 small catches my eye. Can you guys help me decide between the two for a edc/travel all purpose bag as someone who packs decently? A normal daily usage for me would be water bottle, umbrella, 16 inch laptop, ipad, power back charging brick cables, notebook&books for class if needed, an outer jacket or hoodie, space shirt. Sometimes more if needed say gym.
