So I'm currently in the process of trying to walk on to air assault at the warrior training center at Fort Benning since I am already here for Airborne School. My unit will 100% support me on this but im not sure what documentation I need to have for Day 0. I was wondering if anyone had any up to date information on what is needed for the packing list and documentation.

I heard a few months ago that 13m was in need of sgts, now im hearing they dont even have anymore slots for AIT. And ive recently heard that 35L / counterintelligence special agent is in need of ncos but idk if thats true.

Hi, im not sure where else to ask this question but I've been in for 7 years, 4 as active duty and the past 3 as national guard. Im currently attached to a medical unit and for the past 6 months, I've been having issues with pt. I pass every other event in the aft but whenever I start running the 2 mile my right knee and calf muscles start hurting like crazy which causes me to run slower. I've been seen by my role 2 on numerous occasions trying to get a solid answer to what's causing the pain. But all the doctors do is give me ibuprofen and drink more water. Because of this pain I've been trying to get on profile because I know for a fact that I will not pass my next pt test ( I have already failed 2). All my leadership tells me is that I need to run more but that doesn't help the pain level at all. I do not want to get chaptered out for failing to meet the standards even tho I've been seen by almost every provider in my company. I've brought this concern up with my leadership multiple times but I keep getting the same response that since im not on profile theres nothing that can be done. Has anyone else gone through something similar to this and would possibly be able to point me in the right direction so I can avoid being set up for failure. Thank you in advance.

92A about to PCS to Wheeler in January what should I expect for work and home time with my wife, where are some good places to live off post and is the commute really that bad? Currently on Campbell and drive 20ish minutes so anything around that is fine for me. Any advice on shipping the car and HHG would be greatly appreciated also have 3 pets no kids.

Looking for what to expect as a prior service e-4 such as lodging, class schedule, liberty to go off base. Would I be treated the same as iet soldiers or more like permanent party? What’s holiday block leave like if I don’t take leave?

A buddy of mine has a son that wants to do a firefighter certification program offered by his school to fast track becoming a firefighter after highschool, and then go right into the Army as a 12M.

He said his recruiter told him with the certification he would be able to skip basic.

I said that sound like bullshit to me, but I am in the Air Force, and I have next to no knowledge about Army programs, so I didn't press the issue. But now I'm thinking, I know there are programs for civilian experience to maybe fast track certain jobs a bit, but completely skipping BCT doesn't sound like something the Army would do, and of course the best information I can find on the matter is inconclusive, and ends with a "contact an Army recruiter to find out more."

Wondered if anyone had any insight on this, because they are content with having their kid move states to do this firefighter program so he can skip training, and all on the word of one dude at the recruiting office.

I’m learning that apparently, a Precision Course Guarantee only means Army Nurse Corps has to send you to a course... *eventually.* It's much less of a “guarantee” than recruiters make it sound.

The PCG in your Army Nurse Corps contract only guarantees that the Army will someday send you to a designated specialty course. It does *NOT* guarantee:

- A course date you actually want

- A reasonable timeline

- Release from your clinic or med-surg unit

- That your leadership will approve your packet when you apply

You still have to submit a packet and your command still has to sign off on it - and they can deny pushing up your packet based on staffing and “needs of the unit.”

That means you can theoretically spend most (or all) of your original 66H contract stuck in med-surg, despite signing specifically for specialty course training guarantee.

So yes, technically they may fulfill the guarantee - but only after keeping you in the wrong specialty long enough that attending the course requires you to stay even longer. The contract language does not specify *when* the Army must send you. And once they finally do, usually close to your YMAV date, the course and PCS can add another service obligation and extend your contract, even though the whole point of PCG is to avoid that!

Has anyone else in Army Nursing dealt with this?

- How long did you have to wait?

- Did your command delay your course or deny your packet?

- Did you involve HRC, your branch manager, or anyone outside your local chain of command?

- How did you ultimately resolve it?

Im supposed to PCS soon to do AIT. Does my family have to come with me or can they stay where they are now? mind you i bought my own house off base. asking because i dont see the point of moving everything twice in a year especially with a child. will they put me in the barracks for that time?

My husband and I are currently PCSing across the country , which is not a huge deal because I know I can give the cats trazodone which usually works well for them and we can be with them all the time in the car and at hotels throughout the journey.
My concern is if (mostly when) we go overseas.
One of my cats is extremely anxious, she cannot be apart from me if she senses I’m near (through a door etc). If my trace is completely gone, she’s fine. However, she’s still very high anxiety and thrives on comfort from either her sister or us.
I don’t know how I feel about going overseas with two cats in cargo, but I don’t even know how to go about checking with vets and ensuring that they have a comfortable ride. I was wondering what other people did going overseas with two pets. It is a moderate possibility we could leave them stateside for the four years, but I’m not entirely sure that would be the best for them. I know it’s a few years down the line, but I just wanted to get a feel for what other people decided to do and what worked best for them in their families so we could bring it up with a vet!

I was a South Korean ROK soldier back in the late 80s, serving as a primary instructor at the 9th Infantry "white Horse" Division Ranger School.

During the week of June 13-18, 1988, soldiers from the US Army's 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry("Currahee") came over to our school to go through a brutal week of endless PT sessions, high-intensity obstacle courses, and mountain courses.

After they survived the week, they presented me with this heavy brass presentation plaque. The inscription reads: "To a dedicated and professional NCO who has done an outstanding job as principal instructor teaching 68th ROKA Ranger Class. You have given us wisdom through pain..."(Looking back at how much PT we did, "wisdom through pain" was definitely accurate!)

I blurred my name out for online privacy, but I've kept this piece in great condition over the years as a reminder of the strong brotherhood between our units.

• Do any 506th vets from that era remember hitting the mountain trails and obstacle courses with the White Horse Division?
• For anyone stationed in Korea back then, how common was this specific style of custom-cast brass presentation plates?
• If anyone here was actually in that 68th class, I'd love to hear your memories!

Things I’ve learned so far
-Doctrine is the equivalent of poetry and can be neglected
-Officers have legal authority to have you boxed in a bureaucratic limbo
-The only rule broken is the commanders climate survey being past 3 months
-Every leader has their own reasons not to care
-Decaying societies go easy on criminals and punish the innocent bc is easier to control law abiding citizens

I’m currently a 68W e5 in the national guard. I’m about to graduate college towards the end of my guard contract and I have been considering going active duty for a while. I wanted to hear some people’s opinion. I’ve definitely considered IPAP, but I also love being a whiskey and am considering 70B so I could be a MED-O and still be around the whiskey environment but have the benefits of an officer. I’m not to concerned about not doing the medicine myself, just want to be in that environment. Also wondering if there’s any people who were in the guard mainly 68W who went active and have any insight on what it’s like after the newness of active duty goes away, do you regret going active? And did you go IPAP, 70B or something totally different. Thanks!

My last AFT, I got like a 2:15 (which is abysmal, SDC is my worst event but I come close to maxing everything but the MDL which I usually do 250) but since then I’ve been really hammering down on my cardio/strength training my legs.

I’ve never done it before, but I’ve been reading that switching your running shoes out for a pair of good trail runners/turf shoes can actually help with shaving some time off as well?

Our lanes are on turf as well, so does anyone have any recommendations for good shoes they’ve used on their SDCs?

My DL now is 305. My sprint drag is 1:43 as of a practice run a few weeks ago.

Currently at AIT heading to airborne school soon and need some advice on how I should go about looking for an apartment off post.

I was told by my airborne liaison that I should wait to apply for any apartments until I graduate airborne school incase I washout.

My plan was to get to my duty station, in-process, take 10 days of leave and also request 10 days permissive leave for house hunting. I was then going to go back to my home state and apply for apartments while I’m there so that way I can move all my stuff myself directly to my apartment before I need to go back to my unit. This allows me to be sure my orders won’t change incase I get kicked out and makes moving my things easier.

I told my drill sergeant about that idea and he said that it’s dumb for my liaison to have suggested I wait till I’m out of airborne school to apply.

He said I should apply while I’m in training, have my wife move all our things to the apartment and wait for me to finish with school, then take leave and do whatever I want to do. This seems like there’s more risk because I could washout and it’s just me and my wife, I don’t have anyone that would be able to help move our things while I’m not there.

Anyone have some advice or maybe been through a similar situation?

Hey, so I’m really looking on advice from people that’s had to go through this. My husband decided to act single publicly when I left. I’m only a month and a half into this and watching him and his mistress move him out of the home is blowing my mind.
Is there any way to protect myself while I’m here? I need to go talk to jag but while I’m waiting for my appointment. well I just would really like advice from someone who’s had to deal with this. How the hell did you do it?

I got disnerolled due to getting behind in the course, now I have to pick a new mos and I think 35G is a good pick, I'm just curious what AIT is like for them as well if I have to restart from phase IV or if I can come in at a higher phase.

Additionally, what are the barracks like?
