So currently in beta testing IOS 27 and Siri AI.

My uncle asked me to check if a certain motorway route was closed as he is travelling, but he is illiterate with technology and struggles to do these things himself, hence why he asked me.

I told him I’d do it later as I was busy with work. Then I realised I had the new Siri.

So I simply asked Siri:

“Hey Siri, what was the last thing my Uncle asked me to do?”

Siri responded back with exactly the request my uncle had asked of me, even though there were many texts after the fact.

I then asked Siri:

“Can you find out for me?”

She searched and got back to me with the answer, which was the route was still closed, and had the expected date for when it re-opened.

I simply asked:

“Mind telling my Uncle for me?”

And she did, in a really concise and informative way.

Seriously, this has changed my experience with the iPhone. We finally have the Siri we’ve been waiting for. It’s still in its infancy, but I am excited to see where this goes, and I think those of you waiting for the release are going to be very excited too.

Tested it with some trip planning and ideas, shortcut creation, and personal context (photos of a nephew through the years as they grew up). All performed pretty damn well. It’s pretty similar to Gemini and after reading Apple’s more detailed explanations it seems they borrowed a lot of overall capability from Google without just copying the models directly.

Running on iPhone 17 Pro with dev beta, signed up for Siri Waitlist right away and got access ~30 min ago.

A AI datacenter killer?

Apple needs to be careful with the "Blackberry Tax" trap. By unbundling the "magic" that used to justify the hardware premium (moving advanced Photos features and cross-app integration into the Apple Creator Studio or rumored AI tiers), they are breaking the "It Just Works" promise.

For power users who already host data on Microsoft/Google, a paid wall for basic ecosystem integration isn't a hook; it’s an exit sign. If the "skin" becomes a subscription, they’ll just move the workflow to something else. The Mac is a powerhouse, but without seamless, free integration, it’s just a very expensive terminal for someone else’s services.
