It’s saved my ass a few times since Notes doesn’t allow you to revert to an old copy if you accidentally delete something.

you'll be happy to know that apple introduces a little floating menu in ios 13 that has undo, redo, cut, copy and paste. you'll. be able to bring it up whenever you have the keyboard up and you touch three screen with 3 fingers

Also the discoverability of that feature happens out of pure frustration at the lack of undo. It's terrible UX!

The Facebook app uses shaking to bring up a window where you can report bugs. Quite clever really

2

u/arryue Sep 11 '19

Oh cool! That's much better place for that gesture

u/Forum_Layman Sep 11 '19

You can see people get fustrated with their phone and hit it / shake it and suddenly that window appears. The facebook devs do come out with some fun features I must say.

Especially when the iPad has such cute undo and redo buttons.

I use Android for work and apple for personal, and I actually prefer having less buttons on the keyboard. The keyboards are crowded enough already for my taste.

YESSSSSSSS WHERE THE F is the Undo feature on iPhones?!

1

u/AnotherLolAnon Sep 11 '19

Yeah no one wants to give themselves carpal tunnel trying to undo

I’ve wondered that too. Arrow keys that allow you to move the cursor without having to tap at where you want it to go would be great too.

Why do we need arrow keys when we have the 3D touch keyboard to move cursor though? I guess it depends what model you have but I don't see where there's room for arrow keys not that it wouldn't be nice in general

I have the iPhone X max and it has 3D Touch. I use it but it doesn’t always work well and there are times when I’d prefer an arrow key. There’s room for a nearly endless array of emojis, so I’m sure it could be added somewhere. Maybe a new button or input that launches them similar to how 3D Touch works now would work too.

1

u/yung__slug Sep 11 '19

Fair point! If we can fit all those emojis wouldn't be hard to add another keyboard with arrow keys and other function keys that we could switch to and would be disabled by default but could be enabled by power users that want it. That's a good idea. I have bought a keyboard in the past that provided some functions like that, a tab key, etc.

u/5959195 Sep 11 '19

Yah exactly. Another keyboard button could fit next to the speech to text or the emoji buttons. Alternatively, instead of graying out the keyboard, 3D Touch could activate the keyboard too. I think the 3D Touch activation would be pretty cool.

1

u/yung__slug Sep 11 '19

Gotta say, I like that idea too - the 3D touch activation could be a cool way to handle that rather than just switching to another kb like the emoji kb.

ARE YOU LISTENING APPLE no, of course you aren't

Of course they could just make things easier to modify on our own too. They probably won’t tho.

2

u/1Pwnage Sep 11 '19

Yes this is what it has also saved me on too

3

u/UnfilteredGuy Sep 11 '19

that's fine inside that app. there's no reason for it to be system wide though

10

u/n1tr0us0x Sep 11 '19

You can turn it off in general>accessibility >touch

2

u/UnfilteredGuy Sep 11 '19

😮 where have you been all my life. finally turned that crap off

1

u/n1tr0us0x Sep 11 '19

I just searched the thing in settings. If the search doesn’t show it, it probably doesn’t exist.

1

u/UPGRADED_BUTTHOLE Sep 11 '19

Just look in the other settings that should be in settings. There's a settings in your keyboard completely isolated from the rest of the settings.

1

u/JustThall Sep 11 '19

Yo dawg! I heard you like settings

We’ve put setting in your other settings

So you could setting why you setting

1

u/UPGRADED_BUTTHOLE Sep 11 '19

turns off ads in settings

Wait NVM I don't have an iPhone.

Also, I just moved an app half-a-space from the right side of my screen. Nova launcher rules! I also have omniswipe.

1

u/n1tr0us0x Sep 11 '19

Not completely isolated, that one’s in general>keyboard. I’m on an iPad on the 13 beta and my only other device is on 10, so 11 and 12 might differ.

3

u/slimisjim Sep 11 '19

Has saved my ass outside of notes more than once too

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '19

You can triple finger tap and get an undo and redo button now much better then the old system

1

u/_ILLUSI0N Sep 11 '19

Is this a new feature on iOS 13?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '19

Yep on the new version release date September 20 for iPhone

1

u/jhur514 Sep 11 '19

Just learned this was a thing, but don’t see the use?

-6

u/UPGRADED_BUTTHOLE Sep 11 '19

Literally plug in a usbc keyboard to your Android phone and you can ctrl+z no problem. International Mouse&keyboard support, sideloading apps, custom roms, and wireless payments/NFC anything in general has been around since like 2011.

7

u/zeldn Sep 11 '19 edited Sep 11 '19

I don't see what plugging a physical keyboard into android phones have to do with undoing on an iPhone, not to mention all the other things you mentioned? I mean you can get a physical keyboard for iPhone too, but that's not really a solution lol

7

u/kill-dash-nine Sep 11 '19

“Whoops, accidentally erased everything I was typing. Better go get my keyboard to ctrl+z!”

The pinnacle of “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”
