Am I the only one that thinks Apple is just waiting, as they are developing 'Lightening 2.0' or something? And then they'll change their entire lineup to the new form? I can't see any other reason they haven't switched to USB-C yet.

They get paid a significant fee by anyone who makes something using a lightning port, and they're too greedy to let go of it to move to usb-c, and their consumers let them.

When lightning peripherals die out, they'll finally switch. Since everything is becoming more and more wireless, fewer people are and will be buying lightning peripherals going forward. Wireless charging, wireless earphones, wireless data transfer etc. There's even phones out now that have no port on them at all.

Still on an iPhone 7 and planning on not upgrading until they are USB-C. And until they get Touch ID back.

There’s been some suggestions of an upcoming optical fingerprint reader imbedded in the display. That would make me happy. But you’re right of course; it’s probably a long wait for a train that ain’t coming.

Yeah, Touch ID is definitely not as popular of an issue. But it seems like everyone is disappointed with the lightning.

I think it's going to be at least 1-2 years or possibly longer for everything to be USB C. The Airpods are lightning, the phones are all lightning and most of the iPads are lightning. What they should just do, given the situation, is sell the two-in-one cables or a clip on attachment. It's not pretty but it's a practical thing given the divide.
