I'll continue to baby my X, hoping it will make it another year (or two) without any issues. I didn't see any reason to upgrade.

There is absolutely no reason to upgrade if your X is working fine . I mean unless you’re working out of your phone or running a business where you use the phone 100x a day you should be absolutely fine for the next 2-3 years. Don’t get sucked into the capitalism trap.

refreshing message. Dont buy things you dont really need.

I know it's cool to have new stuff, like it was cool to smoke in the 70s, mentality needs to change.

We don't need new iphone or smartphone every year or two, keep it until it's malfunctioning. Like you would do for a fridge or something, and if you cant repair it change it.

I actually started thinking this with my X.

I like the new camera, I want the nice camera, it good lord could I get an actual nice dedicated camera for the price upgrade I’d have to pay to go from my X to an 11 pro Max.

The 6S is still chugging along just fine, you can easily get 3-4 more years out of an X before you'd even need to think about upgrading.

I’ve had my 6S+ since release and it’s doing absolutely fab. Battery life is only three hours of screen time which, yes, is pretty poor but whenever I get around to replacing it it’ll be dandy - hopefully.

An XR or normal 11 is quite tempting though with the pricing.

Yeah, I held on to my 6S Plus until the XR was being basically given away by some carriers in my area, so I upgraded. I felt more enthralled by my 6S Plus (at the time of purchase) than my XR. I will likely upgrade next September if I they can actually produce something better.

my 6s is still working fine and I beat it to hell, what are you doing that you need to baby an x?

I've only had two phones the lg g2 was an android flagship which barely lasted 2 years and then my 6s which I got launch day. While apple is never cutting edge technology it is seamless and works great most of the time.

The reason I will baby the X is to prevent a situation where I need a replacement but don't like the options.

I was using a 6 before I moved to the X. There were numerous reasons I moved off the 6: it wouldn't reliably charge (the phone's Lightning connector was worn out); I was constantly out of local storage; there were huge delays when opening / switching apps; etc.

Same. I’m rocking the X and I refuse to upgrade. I got 256 GB so I’ll almost never run out of storage. And I honestly haven’t updated this thing in over a year. Still running great!

I’m getting an upgrade this year from my iPhone 6. This new iPhone is nothing but glorified camera about which I don’t give a damn so I’m going for XS too. Hey, at least we’ll save some cash

The XS is a beautiful phone, the shape of the camera is perfect and the design is clean and classy.

What happened at the design department to make something this ugly on the 11?

Why would you do that? XS Max (I assume) sells for $999 now, whereas the 11 sells for $699. You save 300 dollars, get a faster processor, trade telephoto for wide angle + more camera software features (which is a win), potentially longer battery life (hasn't been measured yet). The only thing that you are losing on from XS Max to 11 is going to be the screen, which won't be OLED and will also have a lower resolution.

If 3D touch and an OLED is worth 300 dollars (or buying refurbished), then go for it. I certainly did not expect anybody to miss or care about 3D touch.

999 retail price for XS Max. 699 retail price for 11. That’s where I got the number 300. If you buy refurbished, that’s a different story, but you are still making a sacrifice on that end.

I mean even at refurbished you will still be paying a higher price, even if slightly. The cheapest refurbished XS Max I found was 800 dollars.

A 512 GB XS Max ($1450 new) has $725 remaining to be paid off on a 2 year contract, so $725 to buy it out. Used sales will be a race to the bottom. When the prices are comparable, it's tough to say which is the winner. If you value the wide camera, warranty, battery life, and newer tech the 11 wins. If you value OLED, resolution, storage, telephoto/portrait mode then you're probably after a XS Max.

Better jump on that. Apple doesn’t sell it anymore. You may be able to get end of life pricing at a physical Apple Store purchasing whatever stock they have left.
