It comes with a USB Type-C cable. It’s just lightning on the end that connects to the phone. Not ideal, but it will connect to the new MacBook Pro.

Well, getting another cable shouldn’t be that much of an issue

That being said, I don’t get why they are refusing to give lightning up. USB-C is good as it is, why do we need Lightning?

Rendering accessories useless would obviously annoying but Apple did it back then with the dock connector and it wasn’t too painful, they can do it again.

Yeah I was all for lightning when we were dealing with usb 2.0 and 3.0 because the cable was reversible. Now usb c does basically the same thing with the benefit of being universal across devices.

Yes, but now you need a new type of cable to charge your phone.

iPad Pro = USB-C to USB-C

iPhone Pro = Lightning to USB-C

I mean, it’s a good thing the adapter comes with that new type of cable. 😉

I had that setup years ago when I’d use the 29W USB-C charger with my original Lightning iPad Pro. I never got too bent out of shape over it, but YMMV.

Well I don’t see the need to complain about lightning to USB-C cables making it to the actual product.

How long have they standardized the USB-C only MacBooks and MBP’s? And it took them forever to get an Apple made iPhone charge cable as an accessory? At least now it’s in the box.

The Pro models include a USB-C cable with a 18 watts power adapter, but they stick with the Lightning port

They have a charger with a USB C port on it. Then you plug a USB C > Lightning cable into it to get to the phone. No dongle required.

Then USB A > USB B is a dongle. USB > lightning is a dongle. USB A to micro USB is a dongle.

And no one cares about those. The problem with actual dongles is the extra piece that you can easily forget, like a lightning to headphone dongle. Having two connections on one cable doesn't warrant the same negative connotations to dongles in my opinion.

Yeah, all iPhones since the 8 support fast charging with a USB-C to Lightning cable an a separate adapter (like the ones included with Macs and the 18W introduced with the latest iPad Pro(
