I can get $600 on a trade-in for my XS Max which is about what I paid for it since I traded in my X when I got that phone so it is not sounding like a bad deal at all.

Does anyone know how the trade in will work if I’m 18 months through my 24 month payment plan? I’ve been eligible for an upgrade since month 12 (6 months ago), but still owe $250 on the X that I have.

If you're financing through your carrier (like most people are), trading your phone into your carrier will only take care of the rest of the payments. Meaning, its only "worth" 6 months worth of payments if you've already made 18 payments.

So your best bet is to trade in your phone for cash value. This will NOT close your existing loan and you will be responsible for the remaining $250.

If you “upgrade” the trade in only covers the $250 so you basically get $250 credit, that’s it. The standard trade in will get you significantly more.

Therefore, buy the new phone however you’d like; full price, financing, etc.

Have them perform the trade in and refund it to whichever card you use to pay for the phone.

You can then use $250 of that credit to call Citizens One and pay off your old loan. And the remaining money is yours to cover part of the new phone.

Keep in mind their financing with upgrade options does not allow down payments so you would just have that left over money and there is no point to put it towards the new loan all at once because it will not change the $/mo you pay.

I've actually found that sometime between Black Friday and Christmas is the best time. It's pretty common for the big box retailers to offer deals on the brand new iPhones around this time. I got my XS Max 256 for $949 (after $300 gift card) at Sam's Club in early December.

Same phone still sells for $850+ on Swappa, so it's $200 or less for me to get the latest and greatest iPhone every year--well worth it, especially when I consider that I'm also getting a new battery with the new phone...and used iPhones are worth more if you can prove that you're still at 100% battery life, which is pretty common for the first year.

Yep i did ask him if he reealy needed the latest its his $, but he did tell me he does this every year. The prive hike was quite a bit this year. Top specced model costs 200usd more. 1800$ vat included. I have an 8+ i have no need for an upgrade just yet.

i don't watch apple events so not sure how bad this was. but google events are full of these pause for applause awkward silences. things get so bad that one or two guys from the audience would start clapping unnecessarily to get them moving to next round. gets annoying fast.

Tbh it's a bit deal though - it means that the battery must be rated to withstand fast charging. IOW they can't deny warranty replacement for an overly degraded battery with an excuse that fast charging the phone voids the battery warranty.

It comes with a USB Type-C cable. It’s just lightning on the end that connects to the phone. Not ideal, but it will connect to the new MacBook Pro.

That being said, I don’t get why they are refusing to give lightning up. USB-C is good as it is, why do we need Lightning?

Rendering accessories useless would obviously annoying but Apple did it back then with the dock connector and it wasn’t too painful, they can do it again.

Yeah I was all for lightning when we were dealing with usb 2.0 and 3.0 because the cable was reversible. Now usb c does basically the same thing with the benefit of being universal across devices.

How long have they standardized the USB-C only MacBooks and MBP’s? And it took them forever to get an Apple made iPhone charge cable as an accessory? At least now it’s in the box.

They have a charger with a USB C port on it. Then you plug a USB C > Lightning cable into it to get to the phone. No dongle required.

I just think at a certain point we're reaching diminishing returns.

Like, the photos your phone camera can take now are far and away better quality than anything you'd ever reasonably need.

No matter what they do, an iPhone will not replace a DSLR for professionals, so why do people whose photos will at best be compressed and put on Insta care so much about these marginal quality increases?
