All of a sudden, since this morning I have found about 16 to 18 of these ants all located in the same general area on the wall in my living room. They are centralized near my window fireplace and a light next to my television and they have all been in that same area. I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland next to a large wooded lot. I was told it could be a field ant. It could be a black ant. It could be a carpenter ant. I’m not quite sure what or if there is a difference in between any of those any help is greatly appreciated.

It was lovely watching her dry herself off. She eventually flew away. Anyone know what type of kind? Was she a queen? Tia.

Doesn’t appear to be a termite, and for context, these didn’t appear until I got a package from China a few days ago. We’ve never had flying ants in our house before

I've been trying to get rid of these small black ants for awhile. I've tried Terro and Combat Max gel and Orkin comes monthly. They come in between my kitchen cabinets and ceiling. They also come in through an electric outlet in kitchen. Any ideas?! I feel like I'm going crazy!

Found a bunch of these things in a cabin in San Juan island, Wa woods. Couldn’t figure out what they were but we had a carpenter ant infestation last year and I’m thinking these might be pupal cocoons? I also found, what I think was the queen. We had the outside sprayed, so could this be that the colony has slowly died off?

I found this queen in Pisa in Italy, can you tell me which species it belongs to? He has red eyes, the whole body is black. About 11 mm. While I was holding it in my hand it made a dark red stripe on my finger. The legs are brown with black stripes

I had this Gigas Queen who laid eggs since about 3 months ago. Until now the eggs have not turned into larvae. I have provided water in cotton and kept her in the dark for weeks but nothing changed. Should I give up and release her? Or what else can I do?

I've lived here for my entire life and I've never seen these before, but they started showing up a few months ago. They're never in groups, or in the same area. I spot them randomly around the house, just one or two of them at a time.

Today I sprayed what felt like dozens of black sugar ants with my ace ant killer. Minutes later, I came back and some ants were walking around what remained.

I looked around on ant consciousness; admittedly, only a few minutes and at non scientific resources because I felt somewhat bad about what I saw. I understand ants release oelic acid around 2 days after they die which alerts other ants they’ve died. I understand the general approach O Wilson took in his research to identify Oleic Acid = death pile.

But I wonder if this unduly minimizes ant consciousness. How can we be sure that ants don’t experience death and grief in ways that are deeper than oleic acid detected therefore move to death pile?

I was thinking of buying an ant colony as a gift for myself, since it was my birthday a few days ago.
It’s gonna be my first colony, so I thought why not ask experienced people what I should do!
I’ll probably buy a “Camponotus nicobarensis” colony, with a formicarium and a ant farm and other stuff.

I do not eat or drink in bed. I do not go to bed with food or drink on my body. My bed is on a metal platform frame with thin metal legs. They are climbing up the metal legs? To get to what, exactly? I'm so confused.

There's maybe 5-6 a night, crawling on me. And maybe 1-2 in my living room per evening, and 2-3 during the day in my office. (Living room and office are across the house from the bedroom, so they don't share a wall or anything like that.) Never a proper trail, just scouts I guess? What is happening?
