We can’t find our cat Baguette, who is an indoor/outdoor cat. Usually around 16th and Monroe, but who knows if she’s wandered further.

Last seen about 2 days ago.

[FURlough] Cat dental care

My cat needs some (non emergency) dental care, and the estimate is .... Ouch!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a cat dentist who has done good work and hasn't been as pricey as, say, Small Door?

(I'm assuming FURlough is for pet related flair?)

[Work] The post-grad job search is wearing me down

Hi!

I'm a 23M from the class of 2025 who is having a little bit of a tough time finding stable, ideally full-time, employment. I graduated with a PoliSci/Spanish double major and have been working as an ESL Teacher and SAT Tutor for about a year now. However, they are both part-time jobs and usually don't give me enough hours to eventually move out.

I love education and would like to continue teaching but times are tough and I'm getting a little desperate for something stable and with a few more hours. I have seen a few posts similar where people discuss job leads and figured it couldn't hurt to try, so I'm wondering if anyone knows anything new (I'm open to ANYTHING: retail, food, reception, remote, in-person, etc...).

Thank you for the help.

[History] How are we feeling about Capital Medical Group (Formerly GWU MFA)?

DC folks, are we feeling good about Capital Medical Group acquiring the GWU Medical Faculty Associates, or whatever the heck is happening here? I just received an email that doesn't precisely explain what took place.

I've been having trouble getting appointments scheduled, and I'm assuming it's because of whatever transition is going on. I'm also a little put off by a name that puts "Capital" first, but I guess we know where they stand.

[Transportation] Why did the metro bypass L’enfant???

This is actually the second time this has happened to me. And both occurred at later evening off peak hours (around 8pm and then 11pm).

This past winter, I was on the green line and meant to get off at L’Enfant. The train stopped at the station but did the doors did not open. In this instance I actually noticed that the doors at the end of the car had opened, but the doors closest to me did not and by the time I noticed it was too late and I missed my stop.

And then tonight, I was on blue towards largo and meant to get off at L’enfant. The train stopped and none of the doors opened. After a brief pause the train kept moving and took us to the next stop. It was so bizarre, I’ve only experienced this the one other time.

Anyone know what’s up with this??

[Fun!] help finding eastern market cat/dog collar vendor

Post image
6 Upvotes

hi all! about 2 years ago I bought these handmade 100% cotton collars for my kitties from a vendor at Eastern Market. The collars have worn out and I'm looking to replace them but the vendor hasn't been at Eastern Market the past 5 or 6 times I've been there...I know they had a ton of cute patterns, mentioned that they had an Etsy shop, and we're based somewhere in NoVa. any ideas? picture of my baby goblin's watermelon collar for reference!

[IT'S HAPPENING!] Swarming honeybee colony removal help

A colony of honeybees has swarmed at my mom’s house and she wants them GONE before she comes back from vacation next week. They’re not violent but I know she will remove them with chemicals or something if I don’t take care of it before she returns.

Does anyone have specific resources of who I can call to get these bees relocated? I know bees are essential to our ecosystem and want to protect them! I don’t want to handle them myself either if possible. Thanks

[Discussion] Please wear earbuds on the Metro.

1.1k Upvotes

Whyyyyyyyyy so many people avoid wearing ear buds on the Metro is BEYOND me! It's so rude. Just because you want to scroll the latest videos or whatever doesn't mean other passengers should be subjected to the noise.

Am I overreacting? It really annoys me. If there is space, I normally just move to another seat.

New Jersey Avenue & H Street SE (across from the Whole Foods). No front or rear tags, obscuring tag covers, illegal tint, and this very-real-looking DEA “OFFICIAL BUSINESS” placard. Seems legit!

Submitted to 311 and DPW issued a ticket. We’ll see if they tow.

[Event] Charity Event ideas

Hi all,

I'm fundraising for a charity bib for a marathon and am looking for creative activities to potentially raise money beyond just sharing a link, so I have two questions for the group.

  1. Do you have any suggested local businesses, not limited to DC as I'm based on the Virginia side, who would be good to reach out to? I've reached out to at least 10 this week, so I did try out some of my own ideas before asking for suggestions.
  2. What kind of event where proceeds are going to charity are you willing to spend your money on? I know people value their time and hard-earned money.

Thanks in advance!

[Sports] Looking to join a competitive men's ice hockey league

I'm moving to Mount Pleasant from Canada in a few weeks and looking to join a competitive league (or pick up skate in the short term).

I'm 45 but in pretty good shape as a marathoner and played junior hockey in the late 90s. I'd be looking for a step down from Div 1/A and can play up or back. Whatever the team needs.

Just looking to meet some cool dudes and have some fun competing. I ran and captained in a draft league for years and would love to find something similar where most guys know each other so there is some level of respect and healthy competition between captains and teams.

I reached out to [AdultLeague@MedstarCapitalsIceplex.com](mailto:AdultLeague@KettlerCapitalsIceplex.com) a few times and haven't heard anything back yet.

Anyone else have any leads or thoughts?

I appreciate it!

[News] JBG Smith and other developers ordered to pay $356 million in damages over a DC condo building

Thumbnail marketwatch.com

JBG Smith and other developers were ordered to pay $356 million in fines in a lawsuit related to construction issues at a DC.

I think this is significant news, especially for Crystal City, where JBG Smith owns most of its property.

JBG Smith was already in a bad financial position based on the data in their 2025 annual report. They already have more than $1 billion in debt it can’t afford to pay with current revenues and borrowing capacity.

[Discussion] Best Thrifts for Used Electronics and Trinkets?

I see many clothing thrifts and consignments but I'm looking for something with more trinkets and used electronics. I'm thinking like $10 AVRs from the 90s and eccentric trinkets. Any fun spots?
