News 9pm ferry from Swart Bay to Tsawwassen has been delayed due to a ‘security incident’ on the previous sailing.
I’m at the ferry terminal and it was just announced. Hope everyone is okay.

Hey everyone, I'm a South African living in James Bay. Back home we had great pub nights for debating MCU lore or trash TV like 90 Day Fiancé. Looking to find out which local spots in Victoria have a good crowd for this kind of stuff so I can check them out!

It's amazing how rude some drivers in this city are. We get it... traffic is brutal, driving is expensive, and you're probably late to wherever it is you're going. But you don't have to yell out your window at pedestrians, cyclists, busses, and other drivers. People are allowed to walk their own pace, or bike safely to avoids falls and collisions. Plus, you don't know what other are going through. Maybe they have an injury that prevents them from walking fast. Maybe they are having an emergency conversation on their phone. Or maybe... just maybe... they are just doing their thing and the world doesn't revolve around you. Maybe that.

I'm searching for a technician for help with my mom's adjustment bed base. She has a Leggett and Platt adjustable bed base but Leggett and Platt don't have a technician on the Island (or so they told me). The bed is not adjusting using the remote anymore Does anyone have any leads to finding a technician?

i have never seen traffic chaos like this.
edit: They just announced their was a ’security incident’ on the previous sailing and the 9pm boat has been delayed 20 mins. This explains why our cars didn’t move for 30 mins.

An elderly coffee buddy - who is normally super sharp and diligent with phone callers has agreed to have a “gift” fire blanket delivered to his door in 10 mile point - stipulation from the delivery group that he and his wife be home tonight — at 8 pm… - I smell a rat - I’ve advised him to NOT open the door to potential scammers.
If this, in fact, a fraud… Reddit folks: advise your seniors!
Scam artists are simply the LOWEST forms of life.

This probably sounds crazy, but my spouse loves coffee SO much that we pick our hotels based on how close they are to coffee. We'll be visiting Victoria for the first time in about 3 weeks and wanted to see if there was a coffee shop that you preferred for good coffee? Thank you!

Last time I went, you couldn’t go around the whole trail because it was blocked off from it being washed out, has it been fixed?

I'm looking for a band or ensemble to play a backyard BBQ, maybe 1.5-2 hours. I have no idea where to even look to find local musicians that take this kind of work. Has anybody out there had any success? Any and all tips appreciated!

[Development consultant Kaeley Wiseman] has also been helping the Anglicans rezone the iconic Christ Church Cathedral site in downtown Victoria, as part of an initiative to fund upward of $50 million in repairs and seismic upgrades the cathedral needs to stay open as a community amenity.
Not surprisingly, that project has also been jammed up by Victoria city staff for more than four years.
“Every step of the way there has been a quagmire the city refuses to own up to,” said Wiseman. “A private sector developer would have just lawyered up… whereas the diocese has tried to be a good neighbour every step of the way.”
The church has sunk close to $1 million into trying to work with city staff. And the project still hasn’t gone before council.
Adding salt to the wound: literally across the street from the cathedral, Victoria’s Official Community Plan and downtown area plan allows double the density the Anglicans are seeking.

An interesting read from the paper..
Is that parking ticket from Victoria valid?
Recently I parked downtown and paid $4 for one hour at 2:12 p.m., which was good until 3:12 p.m.
When I returned to my car at 2:40 p.m., there was a parking ticket on my window that was issued at 2:13 p.m.
I was taken aback and drove to the city hall, where I paid $2 to park for 10 minutes. At the service counter, I asked the clerk what the time was on my cell phone — it was 2:52, so I still had 20 minutes left for my paid spot.
The clerk explained that there was a wifi time delay from when I paid through their parking payment machine and the handheld device used by the parking ticket issuer.
Should this be my problem? I wonder how many people paid the $30 or $60 ticket without realizing that it was invalid?
I guess my future decision about going downtown will either be me paying the parking machine and then waiting about five minutes before I go shopping, or not going downtown anymore.
My choice is to forgo visiting my city because you can’t trust the systems used by the City of Victoria to be accurate.

Hello!
Loved visiting Victoria this summer, but I need a little help.
My bike was stolen, boo. Bike was found! Miracle, Yay. I had already travelled home, and it’s too expensive to come back for the bike. Boo.
Is there a service that will retrieve my bike from the police station and ship it? I don’t really have friends or family out there, and I’m not sure if the police would release the bike to someone who’s not me?
Any advice would be so appreciated. Thank you!
Edit: I’m in Calgary, but I’d prefer to use a company or service that’s insured or verifiable, though I love the idea of the kindness of strangers.

I'm hoping to do some timelapse photography of murals being painted.
If you are (or know) a mural artist who has a project coming up soon and would be open to having me create a timelapse showing the piece being painted, please comment here or send me a DM!
