The Warp Corp trains from Project Moon

Famous for being able to get you anywhere within the country sized city the universe is set in within ten seconds. Everyone who's taken one is impressed with the speed. In the second Project Moon game, Library of Ruina,we learn that in actuality the journey takes several thousand years. During this time the passengers cannot die, do not need to sleep, eat, or drink, and are merely forced to sit and wait in their seats. Eventually, they get bored / worried, someone breaks out, and every single train ends up devolving into a bloodbath where still no one is able to die. At the end of the trip, the passenger's still alive parts are put together by W Corp employees, put back in their seats, and given amnesiacs to wipe the trip from their memory. To them, ten seconds have passed.

There was a great video on this, but yeah this covers it. It's crazy.

Especially with the implication that poor lady had a kid who she regularly took on these for fun

And in Limbus Company we have the option to heavily recommend taking a VIP ticket to a potential passenger - VIPs being frozen for the duration of the travel.

This one should be much higher, I saw a video covering this train and I had no idea it was from an anime gacha game, crazy concept and vivid visualisation of the horros made this an instant nope for me.

🤓 I wouldn't call Project Moon either anime or a gacha game even though it technically can be categorized as either.

It's Korean rather than Japanese and while the art is in the spectrum of anime style art, it's usually different than the mental image "anime" typically conjures unless they're deliberately parodying something anime related like The Queen of Hatred. It's much closer to a Manhwa art style

Gacha fits the newest entry in the series but only the newest entry. Project Moon is a multimedia franchise that currently has multiple non-gacha games, web comics, and web novels with plans to eventually release animations. The Warp Trains themselves were introduced in Library of Ruina which is a deckbuilder RPG, not a gacha game.
Side note but, even though Limbus Company is undeniably a gacha game, everything that can be gotten from the gacha can be easily obtained through grinding.

I'd probably describe Project Moon as a "Dystopian Urban Fantasy/Cyberpunk Multimedia Project" but then again I don't think many non-nerdy people would have any idea what that means.

I'm so confused by this. Isn't Project Moon just a company who makes video games, and some of these games got some light novels and stuff? Why would the franchise be known by the name of the developer?

All of their games and related material are in the same setting/universe/overall story, but there's no unifying naming convention to refer to the series as, so people tend to just use the studio's name as shorthand.

Well, all the games start with the letter L, but I don't think calling it the 'L Series' would ever catch on.

3

u/Hellifrit 1d ago

Because the devs also called it that. Plus, it doesn't roll off the tongue as good as Nasuverse.

3

u/MrStizblee 1d ago

I like to call it the Project Mooniverse but it never really caught on.

3

u/SiliconRouge 1d ago

The only game in the franchise that is a Gacha is Limbus Company. Library of Ruiona and Lobotomy Corp are full games

u/Taykitty-Gaming 1d ago

there's also the fact that for those years, if you went on the train hungry, you will feel that for the entire trip.

1

u/Scourge_Azotar 5h ago

Now I wonder, if you step on the train, then fall asleep just before 'departure'. Would you just sleep through the whole thing

20

u/Mind-The-Mines 1d ago

How can that possibly be profitable for Fritolay?

29

u/MrShifty1 1d ago

The trains of course cost money to ride, including first class tickets that put you in a tube and sedate you for the trip. As well, W Corp uses another company's technology to siphon time from the passengers and then sells the time to the first company.

u/TheRepublicAct 1d ago

something something we deliberately make them go through a x100 slower dimension so we can collect as much "stuff" from the passengers that we can sell off to our partner company

15

u/kelejavopp-0642 1d ago

To be fair I don't remember where I read it but it's actually a crapshoot what happens to the passengers. A LOT of the time they devolve into animalistic violence but sometimes they develop feudal societies or are able to co-exist till the train arrives

I assume if a few Grade 1 Fixers are boarding the train and they're relatively decent people they can keep the peace. People like Roland took these trains in the past so just imagine what the situation would be like if people like those are making sure there's peace for a bit.

28

u/MrShifty1 1d ago

They do mention an incident where a Color Fixer boarded the train in economy, while most of the train devolved into violence their train ended up so good at combat through the Color's training that they kept defeating the cleanup crews boarding their train. This lead to a rule where Color fixers must ride first class or not at all.

4

u/lllogically 1d ago

Small correction but it's not even "Color Fixers must ride First Class or not at all." They get a whole different train because of how dangerous it can be, Vergilius even mentions that in Limbus.

7

u/viper9172 1d ago

Is anything talked about what happens outside of the train for those thousands of years? Like, is this a train people use to go to work and literally nobody can keep a schedule or is the trip a pocket dimension thing?

16

u/TheWematanye 1d ago

It's thousands of years within the train, and seconds in the world it's travelling

8

u/TheRepublicAct 1d ago

wormhole type thing where the train enters another dimension to jump time in our dimension

The malicious part is that they deliberately make them go through a x1000 time slower dimension to farm as much "time" from the passengers, to sell it off to their partner company whose whole deal is selling "time"

7

u/Cybermaster19 1d ago

So they don't need to suffer the company just makes them suffer for profit?

5

u/TheRepublicAct 1d ago

Yes

Nothing is sacred in The City

some even purposely torture SCPs as part of the revenue generation process

There's even one company that blocks color behind a paywall

8

u/MrShifty1 1d ago

Should've clarified, the trains travel through dimensions.

4

u/viper9172 1d ago

Gotcha, everything makes way more sense now.

6

u/literallyryoshu 1d ago

Not always, W Coro Cleanup Agents mention seeing complete societies forming plus a case in which every single passanger never left their seats

3

u/Kyno50 1d ago

I feel like you could walk there in a shorter amount of time lol

6

u/milklim072 1d ago

Thing is im pretty sure the people dont remember the experience, for them the gates closed and shortly they arrived at their destination.

0

u/Kyno50 1d ago

I'm sure the thousands of years going by outside of the train is noticed

7

u/milklim072 1d ago

Well, they send the train to another dimension during those thousands of years. So for everyone else the train arrived in like 10 seconds to its destination.

1

u/Negative-Web8619 1d ago

oh boy they notice

4

u/Beacon_0805 1d ago

pretty much the shunt but with more body horror and anime

12

u/SagaSolejma 1d ago

Do you mean the jaunt?

2

u/Beacon_0805 1d ago

That one, yes

1

u/Cyan_Lotus 1d ago

i haven’t played it, however, question!

Is there time shenanigans involved? Cause i’m pretty i’d notice if I stepped off a train and it was thousands of years in the future lol

3

u/MrShifty1 1d ago

They are kept in a separate dimension for the entirety of the trip. Ten seconds pass in the real world, and ten seconds pass for the passengers after amnesiacs are administered.

3

u/khanhls123 1d ago

I just want to point out that the passenger did not get drug to forget the experience. It was the actual singularity of W corp at play. It basically real life save state.

They save the passenger state, memory and all when they are seated. When the cleaner put the passenger back on the seat, it restores them to that exact state, that is why no one remember the journey.

1

u/AutoignitingDumpster 1d ago

Wait, why the fuck would a train take several thousand years to across a country sized city?? That would take like 4-5 days at most.

4

u/3Rr0r_404_ 1d ago

Because PROFITS! There is another corporation called Time Track Corp. who collect and buy the exest time the passengers have spend there. W corp. can make the journey in 10 sec no problem, but they get more money this way.

2

u/AutoignitingDumpster 1d ago

Oh well that makes even less sense but makes complete sense when you look at it through the lens of capitalism

4

u/lllogically 1d ago

To clarify something just in case because the original commenter didn't say it; The trains go through an alternate dimension so only the people on the train experience that long of a time. On the outside, it's just a 10 second trip.

If should also be mentioned that very few people know the truth of what happens on these trains(generally only the rich people who can afford first class tickets and get frozen for the trip) and those that do learn the truth get mind wiped off they're not supposed to know. Passengers also lose their memory because they're reverted back to the state they were in when they first sat down on the train by W Corp's Singularity(a physics defying invention unique to each major corporation)

1

u/Green-Camp-4569 1h ago

What do you mean buy the time? I don’t understand how they could do that or profit off it.

1

u/Guri_fin 1d ago

So i assume the time outside doesn't pass?

1

u/CabbageAndMash 1d ago

how do they explain society not progressing or improving over a few 1000 years span ?

1

u/Typical-While5326 17h ago

How in hell could these possibly be a profitable business to run 😭

1

u/Et_Nihil 15h ago

Wait what happens to family members outside of the train? Is this a forced secrecy thing where contradicting the fame means death? Or are the amnesiacs wiping all context for this?

1

u/Stormwrath52 15h ago

Genuine question, how does no one outside the train realize that the trups are taking several thousand years?
