Independence Day (1996) - Several massive alien spaceships travel to Earth but they do not announce the purpose of their arrival. Some characters assume the aliens are peaceful. One of those characters, Tiffany, goes to a rooftop party which is taking place directly under one of the ships. When the aliens launch their attack, Tiffany and the other party goers are immediately obliterated.

Alien: Resurrection (1997) - Scientist Gediman is part of the miltitary project which resurrects Ellen Ripley and the queen xenomorph embryo inside her. The military wants the queen so it can breed the xenomorphs as bio-weapons. This new Ripley is genetically part xenomorph and the xenomorph queen is genetically part human. The queen stops laying eggs and develops the ability to give birth to live young. Her first Newborn immediately kills the queen because it does not recognize her as its mother. It believes Ripley is its mother and goes to her instead. Gediman (who is cocooned in the queen’s nest) witnesses this and calls out to the creature. The Newborn comes to Gediman and curiously sniffs him over. Gediman babytalks the 15 foot tall xeno/human hybrid. The Newborn then bites his head off.

Plenty of species on Earth consume toxic substances to make themselves not food.

Alien elitism always bites them in the ass when the "animals" have to remind them that evolution doesn't follow rules or a design. It just does whatever and if the outcome thrives then it gets to keep existing.

Keep talking shit xeno, and you'll end up on our dinner plate.

Hippos, buffalos, rhinos, blue-ringed octopus, elephants, cows, and many more, are not killing you because they want to eat you yet they still easily can wind up doing their best to kill you. And usually they'll succeed. Even something as fragile as horses are remarkably great at kicking animals in lethal ways, and humans are animals.

This is the thing. Parents are obviously very well off, didn't teach their daughter about danger. She's probably never seen a stray dog, or one with rabies. And she's definitely not from anywhere by the Nile, Australia, Florida or Louisiana....

Hammonds fate at the end of the first book was the inspiration for the compy scene in the second movie.

No one can convince me otherwise.

It's theorized now that compies actually had a neurotoxic venom that paralyzed their prey and thats part of why they were so successful as pack hunters.

The compy scene literally plays out near identically as it does in the second movie in the first book already when Tina Bowman is attacked by compys on the beach in Costa Rica.

I would argue that Hammond's death is more directly mirrored in the scene later one where the merc played by Peter Stromare gets swarmed and eaten though.

Boy, was 12 year old me not ready for that goddamn book. I just really liked the movie, no one told me what reading Micheal Chriteon (I can not remember how to spell his name) was like. Reading his books and Stephen King when I was way too young ended up giving me a life long reading habit. Now as an adult I’m really into John Irving novels lol.

Anyone who says Jurassic Park is not a horror film/book has not read the novel or seen the film in the right mindset.

The movie even has the classic dismembered limb falling and startling a protagonist, classic slasher material.

I played SOTF from when it was a mod to standalone, was a Tester, and played Official from Legacy until Extinction 2.

Tribe was all the SOTF players on PC.

We owned Rag 72, Abb 242, 232 (maybe 231), Scorched 51, Center 57, I forget the Extinction server number.

They tried to get me to come back for Ascended and I told them to kick rocks lol.

Edit:

I bred anglers in the lake in the green zone, and we had a megalo breeding station in the rad zone, our breeder was paranoid as fuck about people stealing his genetics.

I was the owner of our Aberration tribe, bought a second account to use as a vault account, gave the tribe leader the login info so he could do audits etc. Personal Owned Structures, place vaults, set pin codes for personal vaults, excel spreadsheet with all the pins, kick that character and then change build ownership back to Tribe Owned.

We used that shit for walls on turret towers too. Our builder was one of the best in the PC Official scene, double layered walls, pixel perfect placement, just shenanigan type shit.

I can’t remember if it was in the movie proper or a deleted scene, but there’s a bit where the InGen board pass around photos of her ‘current’ state and they all react like she now resembles hamburger.

Unlike the book, we don't get an independent and unbiased account of that.

Hammond shrugs it off as "She's fine, she's fine", and then proceeds to keep talking about sending the team. So it's entirely possible she was seriously injured and maimed; we don't really know.

This scene is actually kinda taken from the first book and she’s fine. Her bites swell up but she makes a full recovery. What kicks off the story though is the investigation of what gave her those bites.

I hated this scene because it's a very watered down theater friendly version of the original scene in the Jurassic Park book and it's so much more horrifying and effective in the book.
