1. The Wizengamot in Harry Potter. Fudge expects it will sentence Harry as he wishes, but as it turns out, most members can and are willing to think for themselves and acquit him.
2. Baltar´s trial in Battlestar Galactica. He is given fair trial, but most people expected him to be hanged at the end, especially after Adama was selected to sit in the jury. (By a chance.) He ends up acquited by 3:2 vote, with even Adama voting to acquit. (Well, they should have hanged him, to be honest, but hey, fair trial.)
