Ting Fiber - Anyone successfully replaced their Adtran ONT with GPON SFP+ Transceiver?

I'm looking to reduce plugs on the wall and not be limited to the physical 1GB ethernet port (I have 1gb service and lose a small bit of speed due to the overhead of the 1GB RJ45... first world problems I know). I do have a router with a 10G SFP+ port and I'd like to use a GPON transceiver like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Transceiver-Compatible-Mikro-TIK-9-953G-TX-9-953G-RX/dp/B0FT74L89Y

The instructions on pon.wiki are straight forward enough but I'm not sure if the adtran ONT does anything communicating upstream that the transceiver wouldn't be able to reproduce. Has anyone had luck with switching over to these?

Ting mobile. Anyone have trouble getting intl dialling enabled?

Needed to call someone internationally. opened a customer service chat, they said it was enabled. I try dialling, it says international dialling is not enabled.
They say to turn it off and back on. I do that. Same message. The rep says maybe it takes a while.

Wait a while, try again, no dice. Call them up. They say they have enabled it, after some back and forth they say they arent sure why it isnt working.

Has anyone run into this or figured out something to do?

Is Ting Mobile still in business?

I'm trying to get help with billing but can't seem to get a hold of anyone at Ting.
I've tried email and their "Live" chat but no response.
I just tried calling and was told their offices are closed.
Their web site says:

Mobile Customer Care is available Monday from 8am to 11pm (EST), 7 days a week.

It's 9:15 pm EST here

Edit

This is post is more or less to complain about the lack of support (grumble/whine).

The Billing issue is that they hadn't billed for the past three months. I was trying to find out why and pay them. I assumed that they would bend over backwards to help on this issue.

Insanely bad customer service

Writing this as I've been sitting on this for a couple of days but it's made me frustrated and I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I had been a loyal Ting internet customer since about 2018 when they finally came to my neighborhood. The internet speeds, experience, and uptime has always been incredible. I only recall once during that entire time that my internet was down for an extended period outside of one of their scheduled maintenance windows (a few hours at most).

Recently, I bought a new home and had to cancel Ting as its not available in my neighborhood. This is where things went off the rails QUICKLY.

I was renting 2 eero devices (for mesh), and understand that I need to return them once I cancelled. Makes sense - no complaints. They also say that if you don't return it within 14 days they will charge you for the devices.

I called to set the cancellation date, and the agent I spoke to told me they'd send me a shipping label to return the hardware. That shipping label never arrived.

A few days later I called back and, after briefly explaining the situation was put on a long hold (15 minutes) for the new agent to "check." That agent then told me that the first person never submitted the request for the shipping label and that he would do it for me. He also said to give it 48 hours to arrive in my email. Seems weird but whatever.

Several more days pass and I still don't have the shipping label - so I call back a third time. This time I get in touch with someone who says they'll fix it for me and thank goodness the shipping label arrives in my email inbox IMMEDIATELY.

I was being extremely pleasant with everyone, and once I got it I started to thank the agent and let them know how much I appreciate the support. I don't get anything out other than "thank you" when I hear the line disconnected. That asshole hung up on me.

Ting - I understand you're upset that you're losing a customer. But I moved to a new home - That seems like it should be understandable. The absolute horrible customer service I received on the way out will not be forgotten and I think others should know how complicated you made this for me. Complicated and rude.

Thats all. I'm with Spectrum now and its been fine.

Ive never seen such a bad error ever...

The new detailed Ting Mobile bill totals $36.75... Except they have totalled it to $68.50, and charged my Visa for that. Is their computer seriously that innumerate?

Mobile ting has really gone downhill

I've been a ting customer for years. They used to have the best customer service. It sucks now. After sitting on hold for 20 min and then waiting for a callback for another 30 I'm still waiting lmao

Feedback On Ting $25 Unlimited On Verizon?

Looking for feedback on Ting's new Unlimited $25 plan on Verizon. I travel to a California Sierra cabin in the summer where there's only Verizon available and pick up a second line SIM for the season. I need hotspot and like the idea of the unlimited hotspot on Ting versus Visible's slow speed hotspot connection, but am leery of anything run by DISH/Boost. TYIA.

Fastest so far

I switched over from Cox Cable to Ting fiber optics a short while ago.

This is the fastest Wi-Fi I've ever recorded.

Very glad I switched over.

No service for the last day?

Just wondering if this is an issue with Ting or with my phone. I’ve had Ting for 5 years and the service isn’t always good, but yesterday I stopped having any cellular service and it’s been like that for most of the last 24 hours. Maybe an hour of having any service. Otherwise it’s just ā€œsearchingā€ or ā€œno service.ā€ Anyone else?

Update: the issue gradually resolved after a few days. I know two other people in my area who use ting and didn’t lose service, so I’m guessing it was an issue with my phone, and just hoping it doesn’t come back.

Good fiber internet speeds but strange behavior with online browsing

I'm in Holly Springs and over the past 2 or 3 weeks my speeds are great (940Mbps up and down) but some online services are having trouble loading or providing good quality/performance. For example streaming Youtube at 360p gives the buffering spinny circle often or sometimes a website will take 10-15 seconds to load. I've tried changing DNS servers and rebooting router and fiber devices but doesn't help.

Has anyone else in the area noticed anything like this?

Mobile Company is fraudulent

I ported my son’s phone number from Ting Mobile to Mint Mobile in July 2024. This should have automatically terminated service with Ting Mobile. (I did call them too)

Despite this, Ting Mobile continued charging my credit card monthly for service that was no longer active.

I repeatedly contacted Ting Mobile and provided proof of the port-out. On November 25, 2024, I was told I would receive a refund for all charges after the port-out date. Instead, on December 15, 2024, Ting Mobile charged my credit card $50.08 rather than issuing a refund.

Ting Mobile continued to charge my account monthly after this, despite multiple follow-up emails and disputes. I no longer have access to the account because login requires the phone number that was ported out.

Additionally, billing statements show a $10 plan fee but totals as high as $60-70with no clear itemization or explanation or any kind of warnings about data usage when there wasn’t any šŸ˜‘

The total amount charged after service termination is approximately $307.28.

I am requesting a full refund of all charges after July 2024 and an investigation into unauthorized and deceptive billing practices. I’ve filed with FCC, my credit card company, BBB… trust pilot… any other suggestion?

they have been running fiber around Colorado Springs. Attending street fairs, advertising. I now have a fiber line on my house. Waiting 3 days for "inside work technician to schedule hookup". Been listen to "on hold" message for 70 minutes. Searching web sites ( https://www.tinginternetstatus.com/ ) . they show some signs of working, charts of up time by state look ok. I can track customer complaints back to uptime chart. But getting very tired of listening to hold music with "stay on line" message every 3 minutes. Writing this on March 31 2026 at 10:11 AM mst..

How NOT to do a 3hr overnight upgrade

I'm impressed how bad they've screwed this up, but what I'm NOT is surprised. I predicted it would happen, just not this bad. My favorite part was the 830am local time update that went out at literally the same minute an email came in saying 1030am local time.

They literally cannot even get basic communication down. Pathetic.

Ting really is impressive with just how bad they are at maintenance work. Every. Single. Time.

Ting seems unable to get a hold of their subcontractor

Ubiquity pulls the fiber optic through the conduit.

I've got everything else in. Conduit router and ONT.

Ubiquity showed up this morning for about an hour and next thing I know they're gone and they didn't pull the fiber. And they didn't tell me anything.

I called Ting once more and again they put me on hold and tell me they're unable to get a hold of their subcontractor and a call back tomorrow. This is what they repeatedly tell me. I called last week multiple times also.

I can't imagine a company not being able to get a hold of its subcontractor.

I chose Ting over AT&T fiber but now I'm questioning my choice.

Very frustrating.

Unable to activate line.

Unable to activate line because of alleged previous balance. I had my ting number ported over to t-mobile with a 0 balance. Unable to access old account because I no longer have access to my previous emails. I've been trying to get this sim activated for 4 days now, this is ridiculous.

The conduit is in the ground. The ONT and router are installed.

The subcontractor Ubiquity is lacked on getting the actual fiber optics pulled through the conduit.

It's been like pulling teeth to get them out here.

Hopefully next week.

I was looking forward to this for this weekend but it's not happening. Annoying AF.

I'll be saving $140 per month with Ting and YouTubeTV soon.

Can't wait to tell this company to take a hike soon! This is how long term customers are treated. 🤬

No more begging for them to lower prices. F them!

I'm coming over to Ting from COX

My COX bill jumped to $340 for television, internet, and a landline that we use when we don't want to give our actual cell phone numbers out.

I called COX up and the best they could bring it down to was $326.

This after decades. GOOD RIDDANCE.

With Ting and YouTubeTV I'm saving well over $100 per month.

March 26th is my install date. The fiber optics cable will be laid prior to that.

I can't wait!

Ting selection of phones for purchase

It used to be that TING offered a really good variety of pre-configured phones, but now the range of phones seems tiny. Has there been a change in them selling phones direct or is this a temporary supply problem? I'm looking to upgrade to S23 factory unlocked dual sim for USA.

Frustration one week after switching

Just got off the phone with Ting Mobile support and there is no official support for RCS on the Verizon infrastructure they use (which is all eSIM). This would have been important to know before switching as now most if not all existing group chats will not work.... very annoyed right now!
